I booked this excursion based upon the reviews I had read here. My email inquiry to Alberto was answered promptly with an included document of price and what was to be included and expected. Like everyone has said, Alberto is fantastic. His son was our guide and he too was extraordinary. The horses are well maintained and obviously well cared for. You ride through the pastures, through the jungle and river to the waterfall and back. When we arrived back we were invited in for bbq, which was delicious and the whole group was extremely kind and welcoming. We had a fabulous time and would recommend Alberto to everyone.

We had reservations at Albertos before we arrived. The morning we were supposed to go, it was rainy. We called to see if we could change it to the next day and he said "absolutely " and actually thanked me for calling. Well the afternoon cleared up and we ended up calling him back about an hour before the next tour and were able to get in. Had so much fun riding through the pastures and river up to the waterfall. Our guide didn't speak much English and was great at trying to communicate with us. It was only the 2 of us and one other woman. On the way back our horses started galloping...it was an amazing experience for the inexperienced riders. :-) highly recommend!

We spent a gorgeous day riding through the pastures to the waterfall - one of the highlights of our trip. The waterfall is down a very, very long set of stairs, so it's probably better for people who are in good shape. It made me realize I needed to get in better shape!

First off, Alberto is like a friend you haven't seen in far too long. Speaking with him about his herd and his land management was fascinating. Our guide for today was Shirley...who was faced with a couple of inexperienced riders ;-). She guided us along patiently and even taught me how to let my horse run and I was in Heaven racing around in the fields as we made our way to the waterfall. The waterfall was a blessing to cool off and take a much needed break. From Alberto's through the many grassy fields down through a running creek and off to the falls...all amazing! And highly, HIGHLY recommended!!!

I am an experienced rider and I did not want to ride with a big group of inexperienced tourists. I was recommended Alberto's horses by our taxi driver and it was a real find. I booked the 3.5 hour tour around the arenal volcano and I had a lot of fun. My horse was really good and safe and my guide Shirkey was really friendly. Alberto, the owner, really knows his stuff and cares about his horses. They are in good health and well looked after. Our tour included lots of cantering in the fields, crossing a lovely river, some road ride and a visit to the arenal waterfall and beautiful river. Watch out for the 500 steps to walk, easier going down then up! They have also rides for inexperienced people and their horses look very safe so go ahead, if you love riding, this is the place to go to! You can also see a lot of foals, so cute...

I did this tour with my fiancé he is a less experienced rider and I am a bit more experienced. The views of arenal are beautiful on this tour. We took some great photos and I got to gallop through a large field that they take you through that has some excellent views of the volcano. The guide was very nice and spoke good english. He tried to help my fiancé with his riding posture. It's a good length of tour for a beginner to handle but there are also some nice stretches you can run if you are experienced enough to. Overall really enjoyable.

Peaceful and pretty with a lot of animals, scenic vistas and birds. The horses were responsive and easy to handle. Definitely recommend it!

My daughters who are experienced in equestrian did not want "follow along" trail rides; the experience they had at Alberto's was excellent and good value. Two thumbs up!

Best horses tour to La Fortuna Waterfall in Arenal area. Healthy horses, Edson our guide was so kind and carefully, and Alberto is a great person. The waterfall is cold but is amazing! I really recomend you this trip if you visit la Fortuna.

My husband, daughter (7) and I took this tour to the water fall and had a fabulous and unforgettable time. My husband had been on a horse once and it was a first for my daughter and I. I was a bit anxious at first but Eddie (Alberto's son) was patient and took us through the fields slowly and really let us get comfortable and set the pace. The horses were great and really well trained it didn't take long for us to trust both Eddie and the horses. Going through the creek was an adventure and the highlight for us. My daughter had such a positive first experience and I even got my horse to trot a bit on the way back which was amazing! She (Imperial) was so well behaved and slowed down on my command if I got a little nervous. Eddie always stayed back with our daughter and I felt confident that she was in great hands. He had a great command of the horses and Bruno the little dog gallantly led the way and was a great companion on the trip. The walk down and up the beautiful falls was a great little workout that we all enjoyed and my 7 year old did with ease. All in all a great adventure. If ever in the area again we would definitely come back to do this. It's a 3 hour tour so we thought $65 each was more than fair! Thanks Alberto, Eddie and family for providing us with this great experience!

It was my first time on a horse, so maybe I was a little more scared than normal. We arrived to the barn and Alberto was very pleasant, however our tour guide (his son) was very quiet and not too exciting during our tour. We took our horses through the fields and up fairly steep inclines (in which our horses trotted for). It was just a bit scary doing this the first time. We also took them in a creek and I honestly felt bad for the horses. I felt as if they did not have enough room for their hooves to maneuver. My horse had difficulty following my commands (although this was probably me not being aggressive enough with the horse) and my horse was constantly trying to go off on its own.Unfortunately, my friends horse got too close to my horse at one point and her horse ended up kicking be resulting in having a massively painful hit to my shin. Luckily, nothing else bad happened. Some of the views were fabulous and I did enjoy riding through the farm amongst the cows and Bruno the dog (the owners pup)We got to the waterfall which was great, but I'd rather have gone to the waterfall alone at this point. After our tour, it started storming and we asked if we could skip riding the horses back. Alberto came with us car and drove us back to the barn which was very nice of him. Some of the horses looked malnourished in the barn and they were very very close to one another. If you like horses and are familiar with riding them, this may be the perfect tour for you. If you've never ridden a horse or have any fear of horses, then I may skip this considering it is $65

There were on,y 4 of us on this horse excursion because we were just off season. Best way/time to do it because you get individual attention. We rode to the falls where the walk down hundreds of stairs is challenging, not to mention the climb back up!

Scary yet fun horse back ride through narrow mountain and river trails. You have to park the horse before going down the 514 stairs to the Fortuna waterfall.

Thank you for providing a fun and beautiful ride for myself and my family! The scenery was great, despite the rain!

The tour was fantastic, and Gonzalo, our guide was awesome! We just worried about the condition of the horses. They were very skinny and had some cuts and scrapes on them.
