It is very interesting museum, especially if you like musical instruments and want to know about traditional instruments of nations who live in Kazakhstan. It gives you lots of information about rich traditions of local people.

The museum is in Panfilov Park; it is clean, nice quiet museum. Music instruments are mainly dombras, but some other "noisemakers", as well!

Good overview of local instruments. You will see many different and unusual stringed instruments and varieties of drums.

really thought it would be rather stale and boring cuz not really a big fan of museums or of musical instruments of the Asian variety but the museum turned out to be small but quite interesting and I did learn a lot

A very inspiring array of musical instruments from the middle Asian region. Intricacy and skill in construction, I feel deeply how music is embedded in the culture and environment of a people. Here the staff made an effort to get me someone who spoke English. I appreciated that very much.

My friends and I were struck by how comprehensive and well laid out this musical instrument museum is. It features Kazakh musical instruments dating back hundreds of years and actual footage of performances from some of the most revered musicians. Very impressive!

This museum is a wonderful place to visit. It is vey well laid out with instruments dating back to the 16th century. We were fortunate enough to experience a concert using these very special instruments by professional musicians.

We loved this museum. The folk instruments are beautifully presented and most of the exhibits have some English explanation. When we entered, the woman at reception said no photos were allowed, but after we had visited half the museum, she apologised and said photos were okay (no flash). I went back through and got lots of great shots. So impressed by the care taken with presentation.

Stopped for a quick look around after visiting the war memorial - mainly because it was an interesting looking building. The musical instruments are very well presented in a small museum that only takes 30-40 min to stroll thru/appreciate . Presented are mainly the 2 stringed traditional folk instruments, but a range of percussion and other mainly stringed instruments from around the world were present - while I have been to a number of museums this is the first one I have seen solely dedicated to musical instruments.

An interesting side visit while at Panfilov Park.Due to the nomadic culture, instruments had to be easily portable.Like folk instruments throughout the world, they tend to be stringed with and without soundboxes

Just next to Panfilov park in a fantastic wooden building. Has a great collection of instruments from pre-historic to modern day kazakh instruments and those from other nations who have come to reside in Kazakhstan. They even have dombra owned and played by Kurmangazuy.
