the gabe shop

This thrift shop is right next to Robert's Place (see my review) a great place for a meal, on the small island of Gabriola in the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia, a short ferry ride from Nanaimo (of the bathtub races and Nanaimo bars).It is chock-a-block full of amazing finds, from antique watches, to beautiful cut glass stem ware, to lovely soup tureens (perfect for this weather), silver tableware for the holidays, clothing, and books. On the day we went, there was a nice selection of sweaters - including hand-knit (can you tell the cold is starting to get to me?).The proceeds go to benefit health care and comfort-care for islanders - programs that include transport to healthcare as well as meals on wheels. So when you spend your dollars here, you can feel good about helping a good cause too!
