No small cages here. Focused on Canadian wildlife. Animals roaming "free" in natural habitat, as much as a zoo can provide.

i never went so close to wild animals walking around. The train going in the zoo was well protected for good reason. I believe we went nearby around 20 bears at least, american bisons, amazingly huge wolves, numerous Virginia deers, and so on... All that while crossing some restored pioneers places that where we felt like having made a jump back in history. Even the speaker was having that old fashion way to explain. That was terrific ! The other walkable side of the zoo gave us a chance to see a number of other type os animals, white bears, tigers ( huge as I ever saw),... A really great time in family, to be spend over nearly a full day if you want to see some of the presentations or movies there is to watch as well.

Thank you for taking the time to talk about Charlie and about our Zoo. We care about the animals and try to give them the best habitat we can so they live a happy life.

We discovered this attraction when planning for a trailer camping trip to the Saguenay region of Quebec. The zoo's website was impressive and we decided to put it on our list of places to see, since it seemed to host the animals in a way unlike most zoos who inevitably must use cages. The fact that they feature only animals who are native to the northern climate around the world was a key attraction to us.Zoo Sauvage is impressive in every way, whether you are visiting the welcome center (with its multi-sensory movie), the walking part of the park with the expansive environments for its Japanese snow monkeys, Chinese tigers, etc., or traveling on the train through the enormous expanse of wilderness with freely roaming animals. Our expectations had been high but were exceeded in every case. The fact that the weather was spectacularly beautiful that day didn't hurt. We believe this park is a must-see for anyone traveling to this part of Quebec.

You can't visit Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean region without spending at least half a day at this Zoo! Start with the train where you are in cage-wagons. You're in and animals are free ranging outside! Wow! The one hour tour will give you plenty of chance to watch bears, elk, deer, moose, caribou, wolves, prairie dogs and many more. Moreover, you will pass thru a typical Québec settler's farm and a logging camp. After this first experience, let's visit on foot the very large and modern enclosures that are dispersed in the gigantic area. So big that you will have to cross two rivers on you way.Do not expect lions, giraffe or hippo! This is for Northern beast! That's why you will see the four Siberian Tiger, Polar bears (I had the chance to feed them!)and other North Asia animals. The two kids we travelled with ( 7 and 3 year old) also greatly enjoyed the farm area!Overall, a great day that well worth the expense!

This was our first visit in 20 years and I must say i was impressed by the zoo. It is vastly spacious and animals can be seen from various spots as they are not kept in cage. Even if the parking is full, it doesn't seem overcrowded. The hour-long train ride is a must, you can see many species in real nature. We saw 4 black bears and 2 grizzlys during the ride. There is farm where kids can play with small animals (goats, chickens, donkeys...).Be prepare to walk a bit. The zoo is large and there are many slopes. The site is very well adapted for baby strollers. Plan at least half a day to visit the whole attractions. We were there 4 hours and we didn't waste time.

This ZOO is well planned out for the ease of walking to see wild animals plus the train excursions through the ZOO is a must. Bring your camera all kinds of wild animals.

Lots of animals from Northern Canada. Even has a Train tour where the patrons are caged and the animals free.

Although a little out of the way, we were so impressed with this zoo. It was the first time, we had seen a pack of wolves, other than on TV, in their habitat. Part of the experience is a train through the park with the wild animals native to Canada in different locations. Since we live in San Diego and have not only a great zoo, but also an outstanding Wild Animal Park, we were curious. This was indeed an excellent view of animals in the wild. Plan to spend several hours.....well worth it.

A walk to the train and then a visit of the zoo where animals seems in complete liberty even they are not . The show of feeding the polar bears must be seen. Expect 3 hours to visit everything

Spent 6 hours there. Three are three parts: the "zoo", where animals are kept in enclosures that were spacious and it appeared they were well cared for. Feeding times are posted all over the park so you can watch. The hour long train ride through 1200 acres goes through various "settlements", and many many species of native animals roam freely. LOTS of bears, caribou, deer, sheep, elk, bison, etc. etc. There is a petting zoo and a special "Mongolia" exhibit. Two movies with super-special effects are all part of the package. We went on a cool day in September when it was not crowded and the animals were active. Would go back to Quebec (from B.C.) just to see this again!
