We saw this park in all of it's weather conditions, fabulous in rain and shine.Partner and I did an overnight boat trip on Doubtful Sound with Fiordland Expeditions, fresh fish and crayfish for dinner, and the weather was sunny and the serenity spectacular. Then we did a day trip to Milford with Real Journeys. The rain just bucketed down as soon as we entered the park, and continued all the time we were there. But the wild weather just made it all the more stunning, thousdands of waterfalls cascading down the walls of the Sound, some even being blown back upwards by the fierce winds, truely spectacular sights.A wonderful experience to see both of these Sounds as part of the National Park experience.

The views with small water falls & springs were amazing. The mirror lakes on the way were good to click pictures. The national park is very close to the locations of the famous Hollywood movie,"The Hobbit".

The road was winding and pleasant. We were up driving before dawn and there was only light traffic. Use caution and stay in your lane as some sections are quite narrow. Lots of places to stop and take photos -- but there we so many beautiful vistas we wish there were many more!

My husband and I did the overnight cruise. We enjoyed it but the Sound is not actually that big. You see it all in an afternoon or morning cruise easily, and once it is dark you can see nothing.

I spent a good morning studying the information available at the visitors' centre and walking along the side of the lake.

I was fortunate enough to visit both Milford Sound and take an overnight cruise on Doubtful Sound. Just amazingly beautiful!

Overnight trip on Doubtful Sound was an absolute highlight of our New Zealand adventure. Good food, lovely staff, comfortable rooms and an experience of nature at its most inspiring.

I wasn't lucky with the weather and had a lot of rain and mist so I can't really review the views but the forest was lovely and fairytale like. My only remark is that the doc kinda takes advantage of having the only accomodation, it's pricey for huts....

We drove through Fjordland on the way to Milford Sound and frankly this was the highlight of the trip. The scenery is magnificent and each turn brought more oohs and ahhs than you can imagine. We stopped off at Mirror Lake and the Chasm and loved these little side trips. The pictures attached tell the story.
