We spent half a day here wandering around the park, which is really beautiful. The park is cleverly divided up into many different areas, each of which offers something worth seeing. The Rose garden was in full bloom, and looked beautiful. We saw it early in the morning, but I understand that an afternoon visit is better when the scent of the roses is more intense after a little sun. We were also fascinated by the New Zealand garden, and quite surprised at how many native NZ plants our garden back home in the UK had. The aviary too is well worth a walk round as you learn about the history of NZ birdlife, and the damage done to it by imported creatures such as stoats. For those with children there is also a good children's play area, and a very nice café.

The Queens Park gardens are an absolute must see. There are many different themed gardens that are a pleasure to wander through. Stunning plants and trees are a real inspiration for anyone who enjoys the outdoors. There are animal enclosures and a large bird aviary which the kids will enjoy. There is also a great playground for the kids to exert some energy with plenty of seats for adults to sit and enjoy the sunshine. A café situated within the gardens is also a nice location to have a coffee and watch the world go by. We spent a leisurely 2 hours in the gardens which was a great, "free" activity.

We spent a very enjoyable afternoon walking through the beautiful gardens. They are so well maintained & have so many different areas. It was so peaceful. Highly recommended

Walking through the park grounds was delightful even in the rain. The museum has a wide range of exhibits. Budget at least several hours for the museum then find The Cheeky Llama restaurant in the middle of the park for a great meal.

A stunning place to wander around in the evening - check out the aviary and maybe just grab some fish and chips to eat in the quiet and beautiful interior. Something to be proud of for locals.

A great excursion and the adjacent museum makes it even better. Choose a fine day though..Gosh. I wish I didn't have to write 50 characters though

Stunning...rate this as one of the best parks in NZ. Beautifully presented, clean, good toilet facilities and not over-cluttered. Lovely to take kids too with the animal park, playground and aviaries.

the park is well maintained to a high horticultural level. Some significant tree species and lovely border plantings. The winter glasshouse with the submerged boat is quite interesting. However my favourite bit was the aviaries show casing the native birds of New Zealand with an additional of some O/S birds. The ground dwelling parakeets are such an anomaly as they spend much of their time preferred on the ground.Such a stark difference to many other parrots in the world.Really cool as this was the only opportunity unfortunately that I saw these types of birds which are unique to NZ.It's free and I'm not sure how they pay for this type of display as it's very well maintained with some expensive aviaries. It's well worth the visit for an hour or so depending on how keen you are on plants and gardens.

If you are into parks, a visit to Queens Park in Invercargill will be a must see. Situated in the centre of Invercargill near the Southland Museum and I Site Queens Park is so easy to get to covering many acres. Plenty to see and do in this park. Don't miss it

We drove around this area quite a bit to find a nice place to chill and have a drink. We were quite happy with their beers however didn't try the food. Can visit once.

We use this park nearly everyday and especially more if it's blowing or raining. It's a great park for the young and the mature. It has a lovely children's playground, great food at the coffee shop, animals and from January on the rose gardens are a picture. The gardens are used frequently for weddings.

Where else would we and our visitors go to relax but to the stunning and delightfully peaceful ambience of Queens Park - for the children to feel the grass between their toes, play on the Statuary. The memorial Rose Garden, the Indoor Gardens, the Duck ponds, admire the gardens and then relax in the Café - to reflect on the sights just seen. Queens Park has it all, music at the Rotunda most weekend, good parking, spaces for picnics and children to play, right in the centre of our City.

Queens Park is a beautiful expansive 200 acre park in the centre of the city. It is an arboretum with many well maintained specimen trees. There is a rose garden, Winter Garden, aviary, playground, animal reserve, plus the Museum on the south west corner. There is also a public golf course. This park is sheltered because of the extensive mature trees and is a peaceful place to visit. It is one of New Zealand's best parks and you can easily spend a day wandering around its paths.
