If you're ever anywhere near Boorowa and you're a lover of all things "yarn", then a visit to Fibre Filia is a must. The owners are friendly and helpful and well-versed in their craft, growing their own wool and being crafters themselves. The shop is beautifully laid out to showcase their wonderful array of natural yarns produced both locally and in New Zealand. You can buy anthing from a fleece to a hank of yarn or a beautifully woven scarf, to a niddy noddy or a quality loom, or even just a pair of knitting needles! Fibre Filia are agents for Ashford and can order your new spinning/weaving equipment or even replacement parts for your existing spinning wheel etc.The quailty of products on offer at Fibre Filia is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. A vist to Fibre Filia won't disappoint you. I've come home from my visit inspired, and I'm sure you will too!

FibreFilia is a retail store run by enthusiastic craftspeople, selling coloured wool and other fibre in Boorowa, a small rural town in the heart of fine Merino wool country. Boorowa is just short drive from Yass and about an hour from Canberra. Fibrefilia promotes and sells natural fibre and hand-crafted products from these fibres. What could be more appropriate in a sheep and wool district? There's a display of felt hats and other garments made by a local artist and there are plenty of other handmade items made from wool, cashmere or mohair. If you're into spinning, weaving or knitting, FibreFilia is well worth a visit. I think it's a real find. You can buy a loom, a spinning wheel or fibre, or just have a chat. You may even find a scarf being woven - it's terrific to see a traditional craft like that being carried on. After your visit, stay in Boorowa for a while; have coffee at one of the many street-side cafes or have old-fashioned Devonshire tea at the Arts and Crafts co-op - the best scones in the district. There's even a bakery. Then stroll the wide footpaths, and say "G'day" to locals as you pass by.
