The towers of the old Girne Walls were built in the Lusignan Period with the aim of protecting the people living against attacks. The Walls that surround the fortification of old Girne were built considerably thin; they proved to be ineffective as gunpowder was introduced to the Meditteraen in the Venetian period. The entrance of the twin towered city in the Lusignan Period was north of the present Girne Municpality building. In time, the city Walls built in the Lusignan period fell apart and their stones were used to build houses. The ruins that still stand are the tower in the centre o the harbour, the tower on the bend of the strand, the two towers around the Municipality Bazaar and the tower ruins next to the old custom building.

Selahattin Eyyübi'nin yendiği Fransız kontlar, ellerindeki servetle Kıbrıds adasını Aslan Yürekli Richard'dan 100 bin altına satın almışlar ve imar etmişler. İnşa ettikleri surlar, kiliseler, manastırlar ve kaleler doğaya direnmişler ve hala daha ayaktalar.

Руины крепостных стен сохранились неплохо, те, кто посетили храм Святого Иллариона, правда, будут несколько разочарованы. Но если есть время и нравится прикоснуться стенам времен крестоносцев - будет здорово.

Смесь старины и магазинчика с сувенирами. Сувениры не дешевые, но можно приобрести что-то необычное.

1300'lü yılların Girne'sinin dış duvarlarını birleştiren köşe kulelerinden biridir Round Tower. Şimdi hediyelik eşya mağazası olarak kullanılıyor. Tarihi açıdan eski olmakla beraber pek bir albenisi yok.

Girne'nin merkezinde yer alan kule, şimdi içinde hediyelik eşya satan bir mekan olarak görev yapmaktadır.
