the beach in Faros is not the best around Faros but this is very convenient when you want to have a drink and keep an eye on your kids while they're swimming or playing in the sea.

A small fishing village and a nice little beach. We ate at the taverna at the end of the beach, sitting at a table right on the beach.

This beach is split in two sections. It is separated by some buildings and 3 cafés and tavernas of which one one of them, LICHNOS, I would recommend you avoid. The beach itself is great for youngsters due to its shallow waters.

Faros has a couple of beaches, both equally lovely. The water is very clean and clear and shallow close to shore which is great for small children. You can easily swim out much further into the small bay for snorkelling around the rocks. Several nice tavernas and cafes to choose from and a small supermarket. This would be a lovely place to stay for a peaceful beach holiday.

In fact they are two beaches. One small which is also a harbor for fishing boats, which has a couple of tavernas and a cafe that blend beautifully with the environment. There is also a mini market that has everything you need to get together with you to spend the day. The beach is accessible by car and has a big parking space. Take a small path to the right of the beach (looking at sea) and you will find yourself to a second sandy beach with lot of shadow from trees growing in the sand. This is one the best beaches I have seen in Greece. Water is shallow but not annoyingly. Walk a few meters and you can swim... If you take another walking path again to your right in about 10 minutes you arrive at church Panagia Chrysopigi. One of the iconic places of the island. Around the church you can leave your staff at rocks and have a refreshing swim. Lot of foreign tourists choose to go naked there as it is protected from weird eyes... At Chrysopigi there is also another sandy beach that I didn't like that much as it is rather crowded, but also has a big parking space and a tavern. So you can start your excursion from Chrysopigi to Faros.

If you go to Faros beach, you have the luxury to walk a beautifully paved path to the monastery of Chrysopigi. We went to Faro by bus, had a drink and walked over the path, by which you'll pass several other beaches to the monastery, had a swim and relaxed on the beach and returned by bus again.

Take the bus, walk to Christopigi and when you've walked back spend an hour or two sitting on the beach at one of the delightful tavernas soaking up the atmosphere, with a drink and something to eat. Easily accessible by bus or not overly priced if you wanted to share a taxi.

We liked that the beach has restaurants and a big parking. Is good for families and it is not too far from the center of Sifnos.

Friendly local people and cats, clean water, calm beach.Variety of local restaurants and cafés... Much better than the other beaches as the sand is natural... It doesn't get muddy like at many other places...

This is a shallow golden sand beach, always calm whilst I was there. It's effectively the centre of Faros and there are several tavernas and the local shop within 50 - 100 metres. There's a cul-de-sac sandy dirt track road wrapping round the back of the beach so you hear a few mopeds and the odd car trundling along. Seems popular with families with toddlers and little 'uns. For quieter beaches with several shady trees, try the beaches to either side of Faros beach, ie. Vlicho and Fasolou.

Faros is nice but Sifnos has so many other nice beaches. This a beautiful island, problably the best Cycladic island with Myconos close behind.

Lovely beaches and fabulous clear waters. Great for families. Lots of very friendly cats. Good variety of restaurants very close to the beaches.

We are staying in Platy Gialos and took a bus towards Apolonia and got dropped on the hills above Chrysopigi. Here we picked up the foot path around the headland to faros. The views were amazing. The first bay is quite secluded and was a deep sandy bay. It didn't look accessible by road. It has plenty of tree shade. No taverners here. The second bay is the second is the harbour and where the bus stops if you need it. This beach is surrounded by little tavernas, bars and has a small shop. The beach is open and most of the shade is occupied by the tavernas. If you take the footpath up the steps by the bus stop this carries on over the next headland to a very nice bay. Ideal for families. It has plenty of shade under trees, shower, toilet and a simple taverna that provides an ideal lunchtime retreat. Some divers here. There is plenty of parking so visitors come and go. Overall by far the nicest of the bays and well worth a visit.

Combine a visit to Faros with one to Chrissopigi by taking a bus or driving to Faros then walking round to Chrissopigi and back. The paths are in fabulous conditions, the views magnificent and the range of swimming areas good to. Showers in the beach at Chrissopigi near the church end allow you to wash off the salt before walking back.
