I had assumed the church would be open to visitors at the same times as the library, but this was a mistake. As it turned out, the church would only open later, so I couldn't see inside. Outside the only remarkable thing, to my eye, was the little onion dome on a tall thin tower. There are a number of churches with similar onion domes clustered in a small area of Campania, not far from Telese and Montesarchi, but I don't know if there's any connection. There's a lovely park-like area in the middle of the old monastic complex, with ancient trees, green lawns and children playing. No traffic. Bliss. But my main reason for going was to see the monastery library, which I'll review separately.

Het voormalige premonstratenzers klooster, vanaf 1875 een psychiatrisch ziekenhuis bezit twee cultuurschatten. De voormalige kloosterkerk bezit een prachtig koorgestoelte met prachtig beeldhouwerk maar vooral de roccoco barokbibliotheek met aan het plafond het grandioos fresco van de hand van Franz Georg Hermann 1757, Christus kruisiging tot Christus koning. De boeken in de bib zijn dummies, de originele zijn via een malfide handelaar verdwenen in het midden van vorige eeuw. Dit doet geen inbreuk aan de pracht van de bibliotheek die soms ook als concertzaal wordt gebruikt

Après la visite de la bibliothèque , il ne faut surtout pas louper la cathédrale juste à côté. C'est une belle église dans le plus pure style baroque .
