I've been to many museums and this one was really brilliant. The collection of ancient Sámi artefacts and stories as well as an amazing gift shop were well worth the visit. Nice cafe with top quality food also.

Very well laid out with a route following room by room. Very good English booklet to help you through. I learnt a great deal about Sami history, culture and way of life. The cafe was shut but only a short walk to the Viddernas Cafe. Only drawback was the group of loud mouthed Americans (tautology) just in front of us who seemed to be a loony fringe religious group. We rearranged the order of the tour to avoid them but you can hardly blame the museum for that. Absolutely would recommend this for a 2 to 3 hour visit.

There are the usual displays of Sami people and a tent you can sit in to experience it. But the most memorable part of this museum is a helicopter ride simulation over the "villages" of the Sami district. Stand on a platform and hold on as a surround-sound video plays and even vibrates as you lift off. Even as adults we enjoyed it.Great gift shop as well!

This museum in Jokkmokk is so much better than all the museums in Norway combined about Sami culture. We spent about 2 hours in a leisurely pace to see everything. If you are in a hurry, you an do it in 90 minutes. When we went the restaurant was closed. There is an English booklet you can carry with you while walking around in the museum because there is almost nothing in English but honestly we did not use the book because we did not have to. Everything is very well displayed. Jokkmokk is a lovely village as well. This is a museum worth going to the North for. The price is the same for seniors. No discounts. Plenty of parking. The building itself is nice too.

The Ajtte Museum in Jokkmokk is a very well-designed and interesting museum, with a very nice attached cafe. The exhibits are laid out in rooms that surround a central hall, so it is very easy to pick and choose which exhibits to see. The exhibits are: Costume and Silver: From hides and leather to festive dress of cloth. The Sami silver and its mediaeval design.Drum Time: Religion and mythology.Life of the settlers: A settler family in the early 1900s.Getting by: The nomadic life and selfsubsistence with reindeer up to modern times. On the Move: How people have adapted to life in a land without roads, and the migration of animals. The River: From the springs to the sea. River landscapes then and now.Laponia – my Heritage as well as that of the World. World Heritage site with cultural and natural significance for all humanityThis is a very worthwhile stop for anyone visiting Swedish Lappland!

This was one of the better Sami museums that we visited. The displays were of a high quality and it was very well set-up for children. Interesting knick-knacks were available for sale in the shop - overall, it was an enjoyable experience

A museum that shows the most from the historic culture of the northern people living in the north of scandinavia.

Molto interessante.
