We happened on the museum by chance, walking around the Old Town and were the only visitors on a Saturday morning. The visitors card from our hotel reduced the admission from Chf6 to Chf3 per person and gave us a fascinating hour and a half of the history of the area, woodworking, farming, quarrying etc etc.Well worth a visit

I love this museum; it is all located in a very old house and is very atmospheric in giving an idea of how people lived in times past. It is not especially children-friendly in that there is more looking & reading than activities (so not like a UK museum!) - my kids enjoy it, but will whizz around in an hour.

This little museum in the old part of Montreux is a MUST, it tells the story of Montreux and surroundings, from ancient times until today. Set i a beautiful old building within 5 minutes walk from the train station or town center, visiting it gives you a special feeling about this small but incredible town. Thanks to people who worked voluntarily and to the commune Montreux offers some most exceptional things to see and to do!

This museum in an old house in the old Vieux Montreux is worth a visit during a rainy day, and gives an insight into how life was before Montreux was created in earlier in the 20th century. Roman coins and the like are on display, as well as period furniture. The nearby Caveau des Vignerons provides an excellent and authentic fondue. The Museum itself also has a restaurant attached to it.Tip: Buy a Museum Pass, giving access to all sights from Vevey to Montreux, including Chateau Chillon.

Visited in August with 3 children. We used the riviera card ( a new thing i think?) the total cost was only 3 francs-unbelievably good value. Very friendly receptionist who chatted to the children and praised their (poor) french. We took about an hour to do the whole thing as the children don't look for very long at any one thing. A lovely well presented collection with a few interactive displays. Everything from an old skeleton to artic photographs to a mock up of an old kitchen. A good assortment to keep everyone satisfield. Access if via a cobblestone street and then steps up to the entrance also there are lots of little steps to negotiate once inside. Great fun for slightly older children as they like the adventure but hard work for pushchairs. I didn't check for disabled access but as it is an old building I doubt very much if there is provision.

Fomos e gostamos...vale a pena conferir!
