We went in September when the weather was fairly mild, but by the time we reached the Observatory it was -6 degrees, and -10degrees with wind chill factor, (they have a digital temperature gauge inside) requiring a very warm jacket, gloves and scarf. I can only imagine how cold it must be in winter. You reach the Observatory from Interlaken changing trains at Kleine Scheidegg. The journey takes about 2hours to reach the top, we left on an early morning train as you need a full day for this trip, also it is very popular with many people waiting for the later trains. The scenery along the way is very beautiful and you can spend a little time in Kleine Scheidegg before heading all the way to Jungfraujoch. On the way back you can hop off at Grinelwald and spend a bit of time in this picturesque town. After the train leaves Kleine Scheidegg it then travels through the Alpine Rock via tunnel, stopping at two viewing platforms along the way, giving you breathtaking views of the snow covered mountainous area. Some people stayed on the train, but I recommend you hop off for the views, as well as allowing you to acclimatise to the altitude. Once you reach the top, Jungfraujoch, you enter the complex where there are cafes, a restaurant, the Sphinx observation terrace, Ice Palace, Husky sled rides, a souvenir shop, and even a post office. Plenty to see and do to keep you busy all day. The views are absolutely spectacular and if you don't like the cold you can still enjoy the views as the Observatory has large viewing windows. Jungfraujoch is a MUST for anyone wanting to experience the wonderful snow covered landscape of Switzerland.

Its visible from the viewing points at Jungfraujoch, though I think entry inside the observatory for tourists is prohibited. Nonetheless, it is worth a visit.

I've been there in December. It's no doubt a place to visit if go to Europe. Can't see much because the day I went was snowing too much and have a strong winds. Love it.

A trip to Grindelwald isn't complete without a trip up the Jungfrau. Its a bit pricey (£ 120 per adult - 16 years +) but there are ways of getting the price down. We were intending to explore the area anyway and so bought hiking passes which meant that out tickets were significantly cheaper (save approximately £ 80). Under 16's benefit from a junior travel card (£ 30 which lasts for 1 year) and they can travel on everything for free.We had blizzard conditions the day we went up so not much to see - however, I have been before and the views are stunning!Well worth a visit.

This was an amazing journey up to the "Top of Europe". It was very windy when we went up there and the snow was blowing everywhere. It was still extraordinary, I think the summer time will be a great time to go but it will be very crowded. It was busy when we went so I suspect you can't really avoid the crowds. Make sure you start early, we started our journey from Interlaken Ost around 9am. It takes a long time to get to the top but it doesn't feel like it when you are admiring the views.

Amazing views! Be sure to visit during a clear day as it can be expensive! A must-see! Train from Grindelwald took about 1.5 hr one way so start early!

Awesome view of the Alps. You can see the different ranges of the neighbouring countries as well. You can also see the Interlaken area from the top.this a life time experience one can have.We couldn't believe our eyes. What we saw was just splendid.

First of all, do this on a clear day, it's not cheap to go up to 'The top of Europe' and enjoy what is on offer, but you surely would not want to pay close to 200 Swiss francs and be met with nothing but clouds and less then 5m visibility, I definitely would not.I would recommend checking these sites before your planned visit. However, as we all know alpine weather can be unpredictable and change without notice. For weather:https://www.meteoblue.com/en/switzerland/weather-jungfraujochWebcams:http://www.jungfrau.ch/en/sommer/tourism/travel-information/webcams/winter-webcams/I was lucky as I was based in Grindelwald, so could easily take the trip up from there without notice. But on a clear day, like I experienced....words simply cannot describe it, it is just beautiful, and the mountains/glaciers at their absolute best, magnificent.Highly recommend this.

Spent the whole day in these mountains climbing from Interlaken Ost station at the bottom, changing to a couple of trains on the way up. There are two stops (not changing trains) in which you can go out for 2 minutes and quickly watch the view and take a picture, although it won’t match what you will find at the top of course. You will see a lot of information on how they built the place and some history of the observatory as well. I am very glad I came up here.

The view from the Spinx is excellent. Good spot to take pics and also enjoy being top of europe as this is the highest view at Junfraujoch.

The Beauty of the Mountain is hidden for all those who try to discover it from the top, supposing that, one way or an other, one can reach this place directly. The Beauty of the Mountain reveals only to those who climbed it... -Antoine de Saint-ExuperyI went in November 2014. Its a shame that Schilthorn was close due to maintenance but fortunately Jungfraujoch was open. Overall experience was amazing. Extremely beautiful and marvellous view from Sphinx. Worth every penny paid. Come early morning so you can catch the 2nd last train which leaves around 3 ish or last train around 4 :30 , keep in mind it takes around 2 hours to get down to valley.

I booked the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe day trip with Viator, We got on the coach at the train station, headed out of Zurich and towards Interlarken. Even on the grey, misty, foggy day the scenery was beautiful. After a brief 40 mins to stretch our legs in Interlarken we headed to get the first of the two cogwheel trains that takes you up to the Jungfraujoch station. As we got above the drizzle and mist the view was simply breathtaking, and above the clouds it was even more stunning. The Sphinx Observatory is outside the Jungfraujoch Railway Station. Here you can step out on to the mountain, get up to the highest plateau, walk around the Eisplatz (ice palace) and learn about the construction of the railway. The whole experience for me was brilliant, worth every penny.

Just superb. No need to put any more words. ( If not for this Tripadvisor policy of 200 characters).Lucky for us, we went on a day with fantastic sunny weather. The cog wheel train journey was super.
