During a visit to Scotland used the opportunity to spend a couple of days researching the Scottish side of my family tree. The family history room on the 5th level offer a full day of searching using the Scotland's People site for £15 from 9am till 4pm. Print outs of certificates cost 50p each. Well worth the money. Cafe on the ground floor for speedy lunch if you can drag yourself away from searching! Beautiful library and building.

Amazing Building, excellent library, internet cafe, place to chill out. Have attended various events here. Only downside is parking, I tend not to bring my car into Glasgow that day and match it up with meeting a friend for dinner and drinks.

This Stunning Mitchell building is a beautiful piece of architecture and although the 70's block at the back once seemed hideous it has aged well. Its a shame the library is a wee bit antiquated.

Brilliant library with first class facilities for family history research. The cafe facilities are good and not over priced. Just wish I lived nearer.

Great place for using the records for family history research and has cafeteria facilities if you wish to spend a whole day on your family tree

We visited the library to view a temporary exhibition on the history of cinema (which was excellent). The building is beautiful with an imposing facade, and the interior is just as impressive. The staff was helpful and friendly. When you enter via the main entrance, look up to see the spiral staircase!

The BFM had the pleasure of visiting the Mitchell Library.201 North StreetGlasgowG3 7DNScotland+44 141 287 2872It's set in an amazing building, which looks even more stunning at night all lit up. It's a great place housing over one million items. It is one of Europes largest libraries. There are various displays and collections to check out. Definitely work a visit if in the West End.

Very helpful staff we went to a talk on illustrated Glasgow, I am sorry I can't remember the very interesting Man's name. As a visitor to Glasgow what he told us about the City in a very short time made our visit much more interesting. This was a free talk organised and advertised by the staff of the wonderful Mitchell Library. It is a truth that if you need to know anything your first stop best be your Library. Long opening hours too, and I noticed there was a cafe and lots of public access computers.

One of the most imposing buildings in Glasgow. Much loved by students as a library and adjacent bars / restaurants. Picture of the library adorns the first Deacon Blue album (I think)

It is so spacious, you don't realise how big it is inside. Loved everything about it. Had a lovely atmosphere.

One of the best municipal libraries and was able to catch Kirsty Wark in a very small group as part of reading Week talking about her novel - which I then went and bought and am reading.
