This is a stunning building both inside and out and looks amazing all lit up. It's really interactive and fun to just wonder around and explore. I loved the hidden gardens on each floor, we visited in the winter but I'm sure in the summer they are even better.

This is a must see, even if you have only an hour to spare.Head to the top floor in the lift for a view of the city. Then come down the glass elevator and travelators, exploring as you go. amazing architecture and so good to see it busy.

Whenever I have friends or family coming to visit Birmingham for the first time, this is on my tour. The library is architectural genius. Both rooftop terraces provide beautiful views over the city. The library provides multiple areas to chill out and relax and take in your impressive surroundings.

This is the first time that a library has been our favourite attraction in a new city. The combination of modern architecture, a roof garden, views over the city centre, a Shakespeare room, many floors of reference and historic books and acres of space to quietly relax and read, persuaded us to visit more than once during a chilly winter break. Its just a shame that all of this appears to be treatened by budget cuts - lets hope that the management can find innovative ways to maintain quality.

As a friend was visiting, I had the chance to see Birmingham through the eyes of a tourist, and the obvious destination was the new (now not-so-new) library. To say she was blown away is an understatement. She raved about all of it - the design, the inside space, the terraces, the Shakespeare library, the views. From high up, Birmingham really does look like the forward-looking and thinking city our council leaders have always told us it is. The sadness of course is that their vision in building the library did not extend to actually funding the running of it and it now faces cuts to its staff and opening hours. Already the Tuesday lunchtime talks have fallen victim to cost-cutting. Book and other loans and research materials - the basics - will of course remain but make the most of its extras while you can.

I read this was the largest Library in Europe so we decided we had to visit. I can not recall the last time I went to a Library but this was so special we returned the next day as well! If you are visiting Birmingham for the first time the Library is a must.

Arrived at the library just after 8 in the morning-barely anyone there. Used the information point to find out the most interesting features to track down. These included the book rotunda-the fascinating Shakespeare room and the viewing point-stunning building-don't forget to look at the outside first. Unfortunately glass elevator was out of order so has to skip that-well worth a visit and it doesn't cost a penny!

Although this building is interesting and spacious, the size makes it even more noticable that Birmingham City Council are cutting funding for the collections and the staff. The staff who are there are friendly and helpful but I think that this will become less apparent as hours and staff numbers are cut.

The size is awesome you will never see a modern library of such size. The viewing platform offers good views over Birmingham . Best part is its free . Good cafe. Staff in the library are very helpful . Anyone can read the books, and you can use IT equipment .Free WIF . Ten minutes walk from New Street Station . Five minutes walk to Brindley place

I was born and raised in Birmingham but have not lived there for some years and found our visit to the new library a fantastic experience. It is lovely and modern and presents itself by it's design and ambiance as a great example of a place of learning and information resource. Well done Birmingham !

What an odd looking place! Not a red brick in site, you could easily think what on earth is this building doing in the centre of Birmingham? It kinda looks out of place near the Rep, Symphony Hall, etc but you should definitely take a few minutes to go in and have a look inside! Take the glass lift and go up to the top secret garden and you will find fantastic views of the city and far beyond!!!The inside is fantastic and a must for book lovers!Highly recommended!

A nice place to visit when in Birmingham, it provides a nice overview from its terraces and the internal architecture is quite unique.
