Historically this pub is a must see, with nooks and crannies filled with information and a completely unique style. Built into a cave under Nottingham castle, It's an opportunity to relax after a day of seeing the sights. The food is ok and the house beer 'olde trip' must be tried. It is not however a drinkers pub and has been filled with students the few times I have been there.

Like a trip to history.. Jerusalem inn is the oldest pub in UK which was the reason for my visit. They did not change the place so you can still see the historical side, it is very dark and small but as I mentioned for me the important thing is the historical side not being comfortable. Additionally their foods are delicious.

Don't often have a pint in a cave but this pub (said to be the oldest in England) is partly cut into the rock below Nottingham castle. Atmospheric pub and very well kept bitter

It is lovely for the historical side of things, however, it was dark, very squished and not enough seating! Beautiful nonetheless!

Do not be a hoddypeak and jargogle this place with an inferior inn, thou must corrade ye comrades and enter its illecebrous portal to kench and deliciate in a merry brannigan and very fine fayre!

In a time where proper traditional British pubs are becoming scarce, the Trip is one of the best examples. Great atmosphere and excellent beer.Never eaten there, that is what restaurants are for.

Lovely bar and definitely worth a visit for the history and great photo opp.Me and the hubster did stop for lunch we struggled to find a table but service at the bar was quick. The staff were friendly but the food was average. Would visit again for a drink but not to eat.

What a fantastic little pub! Not only is it famous for being the oldest and part cave at the side of Nottingham castle but it also boasts some really enthusiast staff, great food and drink and a fantastic range of clientèle! Can not recommend this place highly enough but then I don't think I need to due to its fame and reputation. A simple must visit! And of course be sure to try the hook the horn game! You get a sticker if you do it ;)

Good beer, in a cave! What more could years want? A good pub, great atmosphere, better outside of term time.

Been a few times with and without kids, had a lovely meal very historical. The Nottingham ghost walk also passes through on a Saturday evening.

This is such an interesting pub to visit, service was good with a selection of beers and cider. But the food was truly awful, bland soup, bread was hard, all looks a bit run down. Def don't eat there, but fun to visit. Much nicer places to eat nearby!

Nice fish and chips + beer in old traditional stony rooms.History is so long that you just have to accept the fact that it is not perfect as it is clear that it is a tourist location.

It was a nice experience having a look around the pub and the cellar but the food was fairly average and probably would not go back to eat. Would go back for the drinks.

This is a must do for any first timer in Nottingham and a staple for locals as well. Dating back to 1189, this is England's oldest Inn and once thought to be the oldest in the World. The establishment is a warren of caves dating back to 1068 carved under the ruins of Nottingham Castle, It's very busy throughout the year and serves a fine selection of beers, ciders and wines. Dining is recommended, but booking is recommended especially evenings and through weekends in summer.

Not normally a believer of tales of dragons and knights, I took it all in here. After all the crap at The Old Salutation, this place just feels right. Authentic (maybe! ) but well presented and if it is a gimic................. it works! Great selection of ales, and people around me highly recommended the affordable food
