a really nice mix of decorative items - ceramics, paintings, statuary and lots of interesting 'small items' - even oriental snuff bottles.Decent little cafe too.Located in Port Sunlight Village (not really 'Birkenhead' as in the title when I looked it up on here. The village itself is well worth going to as well in its own right.

as the title says this is a nice little gem of a gallery,it is only small has a nice collection of art work and some old furniture and sculptures.at present there is a bit maintenance work going on but don't let that put you off, there is also a little gift shop and cafe.it is also in a nice peaceful location so if you like after your visit you could also have a little walk around the area.i will certainly be going again without question.

Driving there looking at all the houses surrounding was like watching midsummer murders but it reminded me of the hornby model railways sets with the model houses. First had some cake and tea in the cafe (I think it's the same company who does the liverpool museums). Rather a nice treat. Then headed into the museum itself. The interior was lovely. Seeing Paintings I have only ever seen on advertisements or in nooks was really a treat for the eyes. Shame it's being refurbished. Can not wait for the Napoleon roomThe thing that I did not enjoy about this was that I have noticed about the Liverpool museum staff. The staff think they are security walking around the museums in their blue shirts and radios making it hard to enjoy. Thinking the security is watching you even though it's just regular staff. It reminded me of the TV series the prisoner at one point expecting a big ball to arrest me for having a nice time. HahaAnyway it was bliss

This Museum and Art Gallery is a must to visit. From the outside it does not look very large but it contains a large collection of artefacts and paintings - including some from truly famous artists. Entry free, and like many such attractions all donations welcome. The food and service in the basement cafeteria were both very good - prices typical - two coffees and large scone and jam £6.00. The building is located within the bounds of that famous area, Port Sunlight village - again - a must to visit.

The Lady Lever Art Gallery in Port Sunlight is definitely worth the visit. A lot of ancient/art work, antiques and other kinds of exhibitions which can be fascinating. For an Art Gallery, there is no place to find it better for the likes of Port Sunlight; as it's just in the heart of the village. Not to mention, there is a shop and a cafe where you can relax; you could treat yourself in a cafe with a couple of scones occupied by a pot of tea for e.g. Which can be ideal or in anyone's preference. Like I've mentioned in the shop, there are similar goods whereas you would find In one of the galleries in Liverpool if you were traveling into the city for the day out. Similar good's if you wish to purchase a gift for a friend/family member or perhaps for yourself. (Liverpool Museum or Tate Gallery)The last time we came, they were currently refurbishing the south of the gallery, this may be ideal/interesting but I'd rather not want a lot of change for this pleasant art gallery. The Lady Lever I believe has existed before most other people were born in this generation. But inspite what I've just addressed, I'd rather not want change in any other part(s) of this gallery. It's just as perfect as it is. The question is, why would you ever want to change history?I believe and this way, It'll therefore bring many attractions yet to come.

This is a wonderful Art Gallery with so much of interest it's hard to take it all in. There's just one thing missing - the main attraction, Millais' Black Brunswicker, which is on the cover of the Liverpool Museums souvenir book and which features on the banner flying in front of the museum. It turns out this much-loved and much-touted painting is in Japan and won't be back until 2016. I know the web site advises checking before going to see a particular exhibit, but I wonder whether it isn't a bit misleading to feature something which isn't there and won't be for a long time. Nonetheless, we spent a wonderful afternoon marvelling the exhibits. Perhaps I'm just disappointed because, living on the other side of the world, I will never be in Liverpool again and therefore won't get the chance to see one of my favourite paintings when it returns.

Visited the gallery once more. Enjoyed it just as much . I go with a group of artists and we take inspiration from the beautiful artifacts . The welcome from All of the staff is amazing . The girls in the resteraunt are helpful and efficient . The curators in the actual gallery could not be more helpful. Nothing is too much trouble they find stools and drawing boards for us and even come and find you to set them up. We all of us had a great day and thank you very much to all the staff.

The Lady Lever Art Gallery in the beautiful setting of Port Sunlight Village is a gem of a treat and it is free to visit. You have a small but stunning collection of artworks including the Pre Raphaelite's. We went to see the Downton Abbey Exhibition of dresses which was really worth the visit alone. I used to go here as a child but didn't appreciate it then but coming back now as an adult I really enjoyed the art and and displays. There is a large cafe and tea room downstairs and a gift shop that has all those unusual gifts especially those Art Deco items and calendars that make good presents. My favourite picture is "The Sampler" by Leonard Campbell Taylor tucked away up on one of the balcony Galleries. I love his work and he is one of the great but lesser know "British School" painters. Check out his work.

This is quite an amazing place, sited in port sunlight - a 'village' well worth walking around.I went to keep my wife happy - she was attracted by the 'Downton Abbey' costume exhibition. However we were both favourably impressed with the whole collection.Staff are friendly and the modest size meant that we saw everything and I didn't get fed up!Nice food in the cafe, pleasant little shop.Look forward to returning especially as there is considerable renovation afoot and more items will be on display.
