estrella mountain golf course

We flew in from Denver and it took about 40 minutes to get to Estrella GC from the airport. Really don't have anything too bad to say, service and people are real nice, the course was well maintained, and we found this track to be a lot of fun with wide fairways and really no out of bounds to jack up our score. We played the "Jade" tees (6249) and probably a should have played the longer Copper (6733). It is a "Troon" managed course and the on site restaurant was really good too.

What a disappointing experience! This is my second golf experience in AZ and will leave a lasting impression forever! Formerly from NY, I moved to the West Valley and tried this course today. First off, I could have booked online at golf now.com for $23 a player with a $5 reservation fee. I called over the phone and made the reservation instead and when I got to the course, to my surprise the total for 2 golfers was $106! (of course, why would they recommend I book thru the website when they could jerk me for 2x the price? (NOT COOL!). 2x the price? WHAT???Kermit at the Pro Shop was none the accommodating and actually quite rude when asked about the difference. Did anything come with my super-expensive greens fees? No...no bucket of balls, no water, not even a smile! Yes, it's January, yes, the snowbirds are here, but I could have played the Bethpage Black in Bethpage, NY (home to 2 U.S. Opens) for a little over the $50 price tag I played for here...After we finished 18, the cart guy was rushing us out of our cart because he said they had 20+ carts in the shed that were out of order and golfers were waiting just to have a cart so they could tee off. In addition, I went back into the pro-shop to hear angry customers complaining because they were already 45 minutes backed up! I once again questioned the reservation policy and the price difference and couldn't even get an apology! Wow, so much for service with a smile!The course didn't offer anything spectacular. As one reviewer posted, boring layouts, nothing stood out, and the course was in so-so shape (I guess for AZ standards). The price would have been right at about $23 a person, but for the price I paid, I've played much, much nicer courses...I'm not a pro golfer by any means and I would go back at a $23 rate. But for $53 (after taxes), I'd rather go play a much nicer course with a much friendlier staff! I think I could have absorbed the shock of the price of a round if the staff would have been a lil friendlier! Geez, lighten up! And they say people from the Northeast are rude!Really, I'd avoid this course if in the West Valley. If you're a hacker (like me), I'm sure you'll find it average. But if you're looking for a good Arizona golf experience, I'm sure you'll find nicer courses out here especially if they're going to charge you as much as this place. Maybe they should invest some of those exorbitant greens fees back into the course!

Boring layouts; nothing stand out; greens are average, good for hackers not so for golfers. Wouldn't consider next time.

Played on a Saturday in late October. Course was in very poor condition, but staff were very friendly. The course itself is very average - even if it had been in good shape, there are no particularly memorable holes - just a very average track. That being said, the price is right - we played two of us for a total of about $50, including cart. Not a bad course to play for your first round on a trip - to get warmed up - but wouldn't recommend it otherwise.

I hadn't heard great things about this golf course, but since the name change to Tres Rios and I presume ownership change things have changed for the better. We played a foursome last Saturday, and with the exception of the green on the second hole the course was in good shape. It's tight, but for the high handicappers no houses, so there aren't to many chances of lost balls. But you could easily be playing from another fairway.We are not great golfers but we enjoyed ourselves, pace if play was a little slow initially but improved as the round continued.I would definitely go back especially since the rates are also very reasonable.

Fantastic track in beautiful condition. Could be the best sand I've ever hit out of in the bunkers. Unbelievable deal! $119 for 36 holes, a dozen crested pro V1s and lunch. Wow! This is a can't miss track if you are in the west valley. Will be back.

Even for Arizona, this course is poor. Holes aren't long, course is choppy and uncared for. Did not like after 25 years playing golf. Prefer Scottsdale courses.

Came for a sunset dinner and as it turned out, they had an Oktoberfest special on the menu which was very good -- (if you like a large variety of meat on your plate which is the typical German Oktoberfest style menu.) Very attentive service. Will be back

Wife and I along with our neighbors had the pleasure of dining here last night, reservations strongly suggested, and what an outstanding dinner. Sunset was great, outdoor eating for sure, service was untouchable and the menu was the best part of the whole evening. Excellent choices but the beef medallions ended being our favorite among the eight of us. The manager made everyone feel right at home by personally visiting every table and chatting and our waitress was the best!!!! Prices were just right for the quality and service. Outdoor or indoor dining available. Please keep everything like it is !!! Highly recommend you visit for and evening dinner............

This course is difficult but enjoyable. The scenery is beautiful up on the mountain. Club house staff is friendly. And the restaurant is small but the food is good. You won't be disappointed!

Older course so it has some trees, nothing fancy at all. NOt worth a special visit if you are on vacation

My group played Estrella Mountain during our 2010 golf trip to the Phoenix area. This course was not on the original plan, but due to rain in the area on one day, we opted not to risk a high-dollar greens fee course to a rain-out. We had played Estrella Mountain during one of our previous trips, and while it was a good enough course, it did not rate a replay. However, it did meet the requirements for this situation: proximity, lower cost and no crowds (the rain had chased everyone else away, but these hardy Ohioans were ready for more golf).The course was in very good shape. The tee boxes were not chewed up and were actually long (probably not mowed today due to the rain). Fairways were green and fairly lush. The greens were also in good shape. I did not notice the condition of the bunkers (I don’t think any of the group found a bunker, which is unusual). So the overall conditions were a grad of B or better. Pace of play was not an issue, as we pretty much had the course to ourselves (there are just a few other hardy hackers out playing).The layout is good when looking at each hole individually. There are four sets of tees ranging in length from 5300 up to 6850 yards, for the par 71 course. Good mix of hole lengths, although the par threes are all in the 170 to 190 yard range from the tees we played. This is not a classic desert course that would have large areas of desert/sand/waste area to negotiate. It is more of a park-style course in a desert setting (tree-lined fairways, granted the trees are palms and mesquite-looking) and a little water in play on just 3 holes. There are several dogleg holes, some of which provide a risk-reward for trying to cut the corners. Just be careful if you do not make the corner or end up in the trees, as the mesquite-looking trees are ball catchers and will knock down any shot that comes too close. The only issue with the course is the overall routing of the holes and how tightly packed the holes are. There are several places were a slightly errant shot will end up coming close to players in adjacent fairways. This can be a problem with a shot that is trying to cut the corner of a dogleg, or a shot that is hit through the fairway. There is a driving range at the course. There is also a modest clubhouse and proshop, with very friendly staff. Greens fees were $49 (early March 2010 on a Sunday), so reasonable.

wir sind schon zum wiederholtem male in Phoenix und ich bin begeistert von den Golfplätzen. Der Estrella ist ein super schöner Platz und wenn man nicht zur Hochsaison im Febr. oder März dort spielt auch sehr günstig. Jetzt ist es hal schon ein wenig tuer und man muss halt schon mehr als 100 Dollar pro Spieler und Runde investieren. Leiser war es sehr kalt mit 10 Grad und sehr windig. Dann ist Dessert Golf schon eine Herausforderung für jeden Spieler
