We went March 10th the see Three Dog Night. The ushers, especially David, Linda, Steve, and Steve on the Loge level, were great. Also, the man who scanned our ticket in the lobby was very nice and helpful. The artists were great, too. We were so glad to get to see one of my husband's favorite bands. I think the Theatre is charming.Negatives - the acoustics really just were not that good. Also, we saw small pieces of the ceiling falling onto the bottom level. The theatre is old and seems to be kept in fairly good repair, though. The seats on the Loge level have very little leg room. Anyone over 5' 6" may feel a little claustrophobic. Also, I got a soda from the bartender (Loge Level) and it was AWFUL. I had to throw it away. After that I saw one of the bartenders with her finger in her mouth picking at her teeth and then preparing drinks without washing her hands. Yuck. All in all, I would return to the Theatre if I really wanted to see a performance but I would not purchase a drink and I would probably try to find out if other seats had better leg room. We don't live in that area so we probably will not ever return.

This old theater has been around for decades. It is beautifully decorated, and is a comfy place to enjoy a show.Staff is helpful and friendly.mynhusband and I have seen several shows there, and there don't seem to be a bad seat in the house.Note on parking....there is a lot a couple blocks up from the theater, if you can't find street parking,

I took my 7yr old to a show here. Everyone from the ticket office, concessions, to people helping out were so so nice! Obviously these people love what they do. The theater is so well maintained and clean. Every seat had a wonderful view and the acoustics were great. I can't wait to see another show there!

Any more wear & tear, and you might get a run down review. For me, the Florida Theatre is a classic. We enjoyed a fabulous Jackson Browne concert in the first row of the mezzanine and the view was amazing. However the slope of the stairs leaning towards the low railing made it easily possible to fall to the orchestra section below if one was plastered or perhaps has walking issues. The steps are short & carpeted and dangerous. I seriously can't imagine their has been no issues here. However.... Great views great sound fabulous venue! Amazing experience. The staff had the local southern charm. We will come back. Plenty of parking near by.

Not a bad seat in the house. Drinks are a bit pricey, but it's a great venue. I have had seats in the orchestra front row, and the very back of the balcony, and I've never had a bad experience

I've been to several shows at the Florida Theater and always enjoy the venue. It has a lot of character and is large but also intimate. Some of the interior is getting a little worn and tired but I suppose that's part of the character. Here's a word of advice on seating - If the only seats left are in the upper balcony, you may want to consider skipping the show. The seats are just too far away to really see the stage well and they seem unusually small. I am probably considered to be on the small side of average and I had to literally squeeze into the seat. I don't see how anyone even a little overweight can sit comfortably.I've never had a bad seat or been uncomfortable until I tried the upper balcony. If that's all you can get just be sure it's a show you really want to hear (but maybe not see)

Recently attended a show at this venue and was so surprised to see how beautiful it was inside. The ceiling & walls still have those great ornate coverings from the 20's era and are in fairly good condition. The acoustics were wonderful for the concert and I'd definitely love to go back here for another show. Seats were comfortable too. Only downside was the steep climb to the balcony area for older folks.

This is a beautiful old theater in downtown Jacksonville. It's one of only 4 left of its type in Florida. We were able to get into our show fairly quickly. The seats were spacious enough and comfortable. We were seated 3 rows from the back on the lower level, but we could see just fine. It doesn't seem that any seat is a bad seat. I would definitely go back for another show. The only complaint would be the bar lines were way too long. We didn't get a drink, but that's ok.

Great place to see a show. It puts you very close and the acoustics are excellent. Fair warning if you are tall, the seats are close. Will go back as often as possible.

We have the privilege of traveling often with friends to relive our youth attending concerts. Been to many across the country and Florida Theatre remains a favorite. Great architecture, great sound and respectable lineups kept us coming back so frequently we joined the Friends of the Florida Theatre. Take it from this out of towner - visit and support FT

We have been many times, and the theater just seems to keep getting better. The staff was friendly and helpful, the waits were managed well. Late arrivals were handled with style. We had a ball. The only thing that we winced at was the 'double' cocktails. Typically a double is priced at a discount, but no these were DOUBLE. $64 for 4 drinks. I'm glad they let you take them to your seat now.

We have been here many times to see live concerts, holiday shows and old movies. When you step into the theater you feel like you're stepping back into the 1950s, when Elvis Presley first performed here live. There is an old world charm to this theater which originally opened in the '20's. Looking forward to seeing Peter White's Christmas show here tonight!

My wife and I saw the Jeanne Robertson show here over this past weekend. It was our first visit to the theater. This is a quaint old theater that is still undergoing a restoration. The seating was comfortable considering the age of the venue (sorry no plush stadium seating in 1900). We sat in the balcony and had a great view. The acoustics/sound system seemed pretty good. The ushers are mostly volunteers (if not all) and are very helpful. The only odd thing is that they open the doors to the venue but not to the seating areas, so unless you are going to get a drink before the show, there is no reason to arrive early, otherwise you just end up waiting in the lobby.

What a great little place to hear music. It is a beautiful little theater; well preserved with chandeliers, moldings etc., right out of the 30's. Holds about 2500 people an not a bad seat in the house; and very comfortable too. Easy downtown location. Nice bar in the front of the house. One of my favorite concert spots in all of Jax.

My sister and I celebrated her birthday by attending the Melissa Ethridge concert at The Florida Theater. The theater is old but has charm and personality. Had first row mezzanine seats that were amazing, and unlike many venues the seats were comfortable and roomy.Melissa Ethridge put on an unbelievable show...two hours of shear brilliance. She is a consummate musician playing five guitars, the drums and the harmonica. Her voice is strong and passionate and her songs reveal her life experiences. The audience welcomed her warmly and expressed their appreciation of her loudly and often. If you have the opportunity to take in a show or concert at this venue, you will not be disappointed. Garage parking across the street for $5.00 on show nights.
