For anyone in AA this is the place to visit. Where it all started. We live down the street from it. Very busy on Founders Day.

If you are a "Friend of Dr. Bob and Bill" you must come and see where it all began. From simple beginnings one of the most successful recovery program started. The area chapters work hard to keep the house as it was when Dr. Bob and Bill helped out the first members.

If you have the chance, drop by this house. Listed as a national historic place, it is laced with amazing history, from Akron in the 30's to the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous, just a great place to visit.The people at the house are friendly and welcoming, you won't be disappointed.

Guided visit by an AA volunteer , humble beginnings of such a powerful program for recovery. The museum next door also worth the time. Stories galore and visitors from all over the U.S. stopped in for information and pictures while we were there . Able to purchase memorabilia at very affordable prices. Good visit with commentary coffee and cookies ! Would recommend .

This very peaceful home, on the grounds of Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens, was the site of the first meeting of two men who started Alcoholics Anonymous. There are many photos, recordings, and memorabilia of that event, as well as the growth of this serenity and sobriety movement, and annually it hosts Founder's Day, where recovering people can meet and honor the founding of the movement which helped to change their lives. It is a moving place to visit for anyone.

It was so great to see where AA began and to sit in the chairs that Bob & Bill sat in and worked out the beginnings of the program. Will come back again.

They are open noon to three and we arrived early. They let us in early and welcomed us enthusiastically. They had coffee and treats and a nice tour. The stories were very interesting. We especially liked their daughter's room upstairs. It had a peace about it that was noticeable to us. It was a very well cared for home and museum. Next door they had a nice gift shop as well.

A visit to this humble location of the origin of Alcoholics Anonymous is an emotional experience for all---alcoholics, families of alcoholics and non-alcoholics. The tour shows what Bill W. and Dr. Bob went through to get AA started in this house, from testing various de-tox “potions” to writing the first-person accounts of alcoholic life. Definitely a must-see in Akron.

I loved everything. The man giving the tour was great. Dr. Bob changed my life. Everyone I met in Akron was great.

Wonderful place that has been preserved for all to see. The house of the infamous co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous, Dr. Bob & his wife. It was a very emotion provoking place. I got chills wondering if they knew what they started. Today literally millions of alcoholics have changed their lives & their families have reaped the rewards of what they started in that house in 1935! Just WOW!

Open Noon to 3 daily except Christmas. The place where Bill W. andDr. Bob shared their experience, strength and hope and founded a movement that has swept the world...to more than 144 countries and helped millions find sobriety, serenity and a new life. Wonderful videoof the history, and many items of sentimental value for those in recovery.

This simple home on the corner of Ardmore Street, near Market Street in Akron, OH has 12 steps up to the porch. When you ring the bell, someone will answer "Welcome Home." There is a gift shop, a guest book and countless artifacts detailing the humble beginnings of Alcoholics Anonymous. There is a moving video shown in an upstairsbedroom that I have never seen without shedding some tears. Every June, Akron University hosts the annual AA convention. This place is really busy those days. Anyone who has ever benefitted from any 12-step group will find this visit memorable. I frequently bring out of town guests here, and also show them the Mayflower Hotel and the Gate House at nearby Stan Hewett and drive them by the Hospital whereDr. Bob started his work helping folks detox. Even if you're not personally touched by addiction, someone you know is. Stopping by could literally change your life or that of a friend.
