We were up in Great Basin National Park during winter which is one of the slower months as some of the roads to the higher up locations are closed off. Luckily the cave tours stay open year round as caves are always at the same temperature. The cave tour was so much fun. We had a smaller group of 4 so we got to stop for extra photos at some of the places on the way. It was neat to hear about the history of the cave and some of the unique features this one in particular has inside. The tour is about 90 minutes long and has some of the most gorgeous formations we've seen.

Cave is an easy walk great with kids beautiful cave. Nice camp grounds in the park, they fill up early.

The 90 minute tour is only $10 and is very informative. We went in January so there was only 10 of us on the tour together. The caves are cool. Bring a light jacket. Not for big people. You do have to duck down a few times and go sideways down a narrow passage.

We went way out of our way on a trip to Colorado last fall, just to go to this national park and take the cave tour (we love caves). And it was so much more than we expected! The scenery here in Northern Nevada is spectacular, the wide flat valleys and one range of hills after another. We were here during the peak fall colors, and the aspens were gorgeous. We called ahead to reserve spots on the 90-minute tour; making advance reservations is recommended... and it may be a requirement. You can find info on that on the nps website (www.nps.gov/grba). The tour was very well done, and the cave itself is in a limestone layer in the mountain and full of spectacular formations. Some of them are unique, and found nowhere else. I took my dSLR on the tour, and many of the rooms and formations were lit enough for fairly good photography, so I was pleased about that. I've been in several caves, including Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, and I think this one is my favorite so far. After doing the tour, be sure to drive up the mountain to the end of the road, and enjoy the views. That is also well worth the time.

Really enjoyed doing this. Ended up taking the shorter tour, and didn't leave disappointed at all. Tour guide was quite knowledgeable, and very patient in allowing for photography, so be sure to bring your camera. Really would've liked to have taken the longer tour; perhaps when I return the next time!

This National Park is far away from most everything. So if you are willing to invest the time, this cave tour is essential. You can call a few days in advance and make reservations and I HIGHLY recommend that. The phone number is found at www.nps.gov/grba. Otherwise you might not get same day tickets at the time you want. The caves were stunning. Simply the most scenic cave tour I've ever been on.

This is (I think) the smallest national park, but worth the visit. The caves are beautiful, you do have to be on a guided tour. I have done both day and night tours, both are worth the time. Hiking is great around the park, lots of wildlife.

Take the longer tour if you can, the last room was amazing. Bring a flashlight too. You can light up formations as you walk instead of depending on the limited lighting in the caves. It was a lot of fun and a great thing to do on a rainy day.

You have to take a guided tour, for obvious reasons, so check at the visitor's center to see when the next tour is. Interesting formations. Wear a jacket!

Ask for Ranger Dustin--he is funny and knowledgeable. I would do the full 90 minutes as it is over before you know it!

If I had it to do over again, I would choose to be a Geologist. I recommend you see the movie at the Visitor's Center either before or after you tour the caves. The movie is well done. The caves are phenomenal and the accompanying historical/geological information is fascinating. We had a lovely dinner in Baker at the Lectrolux Cafe after touring the caves and before heading up to Wheeler Peak. The Caves are about an hour from Ely, Nevada. Great Basin National Park is beautiful.

Wow.........Please take the extra time to get off the beaten path and go see Lehman Caves!You won't regret seeing this amazing creation. And the history behind it all is awesome.My hubby and I took the $10.00, 90 minute "Grand Palace Tour", Ranger Katie was our guide. We wore shorts with a very light jacket, the caves stay at 50 degrees, which actually felt wonderful....You can take pictures, a flashlight is helpful but not necessary. They have a great little visitor center and there is a small gift shop that offers refreshments.I regret not going to the orchards and picking some fruit which you are invited to do, so next time we will! The campgrounds look amazing and we have added that to a future visit!!!!Please go see the caves!!!

What an experience! 60 or 90 minute tour. Indescribable wonder of nature. If you're claustrophobic or otherwise unable to negotiate tight spaces, think twice. I walk with a cane, and if I'd known what I was getting into, I might have thought twice. I'm glad I went! Since 1974 the caves have been much easier to negotiate. I have great respect for the original explorers and visitors. Don't miss this opportunity!

My husband and I took the 60 minute tour with Guide Diane. She was wonderful and very knowledgeable. Every review talks about the gorgeous cave, they are all correct. This tour is fit for most people no matter your size, height, weight or activity level. There are places you need to tuck and shouldn't be a problem for most people. There are a few places where you have to turn side ways to pass through a narrow opening and this wasn't a problem for anyone. Even very large people could get through. I heard the cashier tell a couple in front of us that they never have to turn people away. There were probably 5 areas where you have to either go up or down stairs. It is a few steps and a long flat walk, then a few more steps, then a paved flat walk and so on. There were plenty of times where we stopped to take pictures or listen to guide. This was not a strenuous hike by any means. We took a flashlight and didn't need it. We had on a fleece jacket and we were not cold at all. Towards the end, both my husband and I were slightly warm. We total recommend this paved cave tour. You won't be disappointed.

Lehman caves were awesome and a great value, $10 for the 90 minute tour. It's a little chilly so a light jacket will be a good call. Ranger Debbie was great... informative and entertaining.
