I was chaperoning a school trip led by Nature Bridge which is an amazing program for kids run out of Yosemite. I had a group of twelve and thirteen year olds and we went up, first to Vernal Falls and then to Nevada falls. We hiked all day and it was positively beautiful!! We hiked part of the John Muir trail down. By the way, I am a 40 something woman in pretty decent shape but not the best for sure. It is doable and enjoyable! My guide told me about a book called Death in Yosemite which sounds like a must read for anyone visiting the park. I have not read it but I looked it up and it documents every death in Yosemite whether preventable or not. At the very least it sounds interesting if not cautionary. We visited in February 2015. Theses trails are awesome in the winter because you don't get too hot and there are not a ton of people. You can stay in Curry Village.

My first time going all the way to Nevada Falls. We packed a little picnic and sat on the rocks looking out to the valley, just beautiful. Was best to go up the steps side next to Vernal Falls and come down the back. Safer than going down the steps when tired.

The John Muir Trail to Nevada Falls and the return along the Mist Trail was the highlight of our trip. Truly amazing views of Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Liberty Cap, and both Vernal and Nevada Falls.

I really thing that the Nevada Falls ranks right up there with the Lower and Upper Falls in Yellowstone. The hike was breath taking.

One of the most beutiful views of this amazing park. It's far from camp, so be prepared to long walk distance.I hv taken 15 hours to go and back.

Stunning when you get to the top, although it is all up hill!!! At the top take your shoes off and rest your feet in the refreshing stream!!

When in Yosemite it is a must to climb along nature's "giant staircase". Fantastic close-up views of a couple of waterfalls and you will get soaked!

Hiked a bit over 12 miles on a Saturday Morning, from Curry Village up to Vernal Falls along the Mist Trail, then up to the top of Nevada Falls, and back down via the John Muir Trail, then over to Upper Mirror Lake and down again back to Curry Village. So 12+ miles and 2,500 feet of elevation gain in about 6 hours during quite a good drenching rain storm. Even with the cloud and fog cover, the views were stunning. And when the view cleared, it was even better.

pleasant trip up the valley, if you have dicky knees go up the steep steps to the top first and then take the John Muir Trail home, much gentler down hill with lots of switchbacks.

Hiked up from the trailhead first to Vernal Falls and then up to the top of Nevada Falls. We came back via the John Muir Trail which has spectacular views of Nevada Falls and Half Dome. We took about 6 hours in total and it's not always an easy walk, but it was well worth it. Fantastic views, up close to the waterfalls - you'll get well-sprayed as you get to Vernal Falls! Make sure you take something to eat and plenty of water. Definitely worth doing but make sure you are prepared for it!

It's another good slog up from Vernal Falls but well worth it. Good views from up here. Plenty of space at the top to stop and have a bite to eat and dip your feet in the cold clear water above the falls. We took the John Muir trail back down which gave great views back to the falls and was a good track down.

Entire park maps and signage needs to be updated. Took us 20 minutes to find this place only to have parking lot closed even though we saw spots in the lot. Walked a MIle to get to the trail then found out tat trail was about a 1500 foot climb. Wife nd I with grandchildren made it we think about 3/4 way up but there was no signage charting progress so we never knew. Park materials needs to include a trail chart of length, designation of easy, moderate, rugged and approx elevation on trail. We are moderate hikers with spurts of rugged but the lack of information eliminated any fun on our last hike of the trip

This hike is located a bit outside of the of the Yosemite village, easily accessible but shuttle. The initial climb is up a paved walkway to a bridge and views of Vernal Falls. The more adventurous then keep going to the falls themselves. The climb does have "built in" steps so its not difficult but there are some drop-offs for the faint of heart. This took us roughly 1 hour to reach. From there, if you are in decent shape (can you run a 5K?) you can then hike to Nevada Falls. The upper portion have more diversity in the terrain with spectacular views and scenery. You can take a different route down this is one very long downhill decline vs. the "built in steps" of the uphill climb. The brochure will tell you 8 miles and 5-6 hours of hiking. We did it in roughly 4 hours with few stops.

I tend to go up the steps past Vernal and up to Nevada and down the John Muir Trail. It's an easier hike. However, it's pretty steep and quite long, 2000 ft elevation up and 2000 ft back down. Don't underestimate this hike. Bring food, plenty of water and enjoy!
