I lived here for over 30 yrs- came from the big city. It is nice that there is a small arts center to show off the bright and exceptional tallent found in the Black Hills. Makes me want to become an artist- not bad for a small community. Grow Baby Grow!

The museum is great, you have to see the cyclorama. We had our wedding reception here, about 100 people. It is an amazing event space and the price could not be beat. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. No hidden, gave me peace of mind and that is worth any cost when you are planning a big event!

Unlike any museum in SoCal; very small but does offer art classes and is a great place to go to see what is going on in the city for arts and entertainment check the bulletin board full of cultural events.

We had our keynote presentation for the Black Hills Photo Shootout at the Dahl and it was perfect. Amanda was so pleasant and accommodating before and during our event. We will be back next year, thank you!

We recently held a national Photo workshop event (Black Hills Shootout) in Rapid City and our keynote address and registration was held at the Dahl Center. It worked out great for us and the staff was extremely helpful.

Excellent art from various artists. The quilt show is amazing. The work that it takes to make these masterpieces which look like paintings are beautiful.

Free museum that showcases local artists. One room has a large mural that encompases the entire room that depicts the history of our country. I actually found it interesting and inspiring.

Dahl Fine Arts Center has been an icon in Rapid City for a number of years and has set the standard high in terms of being a showcase for local and emerging artists. With the new building, it continues to expand its horizons working with downtown merchants, offering classes, and allowing art in its varied forms to flourish and be shared. A must-see for locals and visitors alike.

We visited recently to view an exhibition by local Dakota artists. The modern gallery is beautiful and well laid out. The exhibition of paintings and other media was stunning in quality and exceptionally well presented. A delight to visit.

In planning a trip with our 13 year old granddaughter, I was searching for a private class in jewelry-making. Naomi Even-Aberle, Dahl Center co-director in Arts Education, made all the arrangements for my husband, granddaughter and me to participate in a 3 hour private class with a marvelous instructor, Andrea Brooks. We started with a couple of small projects, then moved to the "main event, which was to set up a small beading loom and begin a Native American style beaded bracelet. Our class was on a Sunday so the Arts Center was closed, but Naomi met us at the door, introduced us to Andrea and made sure that everything was ready to go before leaving. I appreciated the efficient way in which everything was arranged ahead of time so that we could concentrate on making jewelry.

Coming from the north of the city, after passing through the ten or twelve square-blocks of City of Presidents (which is also a must-see in Rapid City although all presidents statues are outdoors on the corners of street intersections), you get to the Dahl Center which may not look very appealing or enticing from outside, but please do go in and be SURE to check out the Cyclorama!! It's in a big circular or oval shaped room in the Center, and on the wall from top to bottom is a truly magnificent mural painting (with so many detailes in it!) that tells the story of America from the time of the Revolution through the Antebellum period through the Civil War through the post-war opening of the West & Industrial Age at the turn of the century through the World Wars, Korea & Vietnam to the current Space Age. With the audio playing and the light effects, the Cyclorama will truly MESMERIZE you! :) You can tell the owner of the place had a great determination to make it such an outstanding artwork (I heard it took years!), and yeah I'm quite confident you won't see a MASTERPIECE depicting & chronicling the history of the United States such as the one at Dahl Center in Rapid City, South Dakota anywhere else in the country or even in big museums!

We arranged and took a personalized private art class to learn about some local native jewelry-making techniques. Our instructor, Andrea Brooks, was nothing short of excellent. Her charm, knowledge, and communication skills made our visit a highlight of our trip to the Black Hills and Badlands areas. We learned several interesting skills to make jewelry of several different styles, each of which she explained clearly and enjoyably. It was like creativity taught to people who think they aren't creative.
