I'm speechless. Who would have thought that this Midwestern gem of a city would have south to offer! Historic neighborhoods, an exciting nightlife and our personal favorite, whale watching! We arrived at the aquarium and signed up for the premium tour which included penguin feeding, jellyfish holding, and a whale watching expedition at Lake Michigan. Apparently, freshwater whales enjoy company, because there came up alongside our boat. We even got to feed them goldfish crackers! A must-do while you're in Gary!

This venue is clean and can handle music, and large gatherings. It has informative displays describing the history of the area along with notable persons and events. Just dont trust the Management to handle permitting or excise paperwork properly, follow up yourself and plan on weeks not days to get alcohol permits. Parking is not free.

A beautiful outdoor courtyard, and indoor meeting space and right on the beach! Great spot for lunch and plant shopping during the Miller Garden Walk each year.

Marquette Park underwent a lengthy restoration and is just getting back on its feet. The remodeling of the Aquatorium was finished at this time and it is much better that it was. Lake Michigan is a magnificent background for any outings you attend at the Aquatorium.

An old beach-house right on the dunes of Lake Michigan, this refurbished location was a perfect location for a family wedding. The building has been tastefully refurbished after many years as its prior function. Along with special rooms and open space, this location was very accommodating for a multi-function wedding - ceremony and social occasion following. There was ample parking for this out-of-the-way location. The location made it a very special and memorable event. The location also includes some new museum rooms for viewing. The wedding was in a large "quad" with our after-event on the second floor over looking the Lake.

The Aquatorium which was the bath house when Marquette Park was the place to go in the early 1900's. Marquette Park, The Pavillion and the Aquatorium have been recently renovated with a 28M grant. Both are now used and rented for weddings/parties. The park itself with the renovation looks like a Chicago Lake front park.It is safe and secure and beautiful!

My fiance and I decided to check out The Aquatorium as the venue for our wedding this summer. We fell in love with it immediately. We're getting married on the second floor, and there's no end in sight with how we can personalize it. It also allows for a gorgeous view of the sunset, and the surrounding beach is clean. It's a very special, historical old building. Also, in making wedding arrangements with the (volunteer!) staff, they are surprisingly flexible and helpful and very good to work with! You can book all day for an affordable price, too!

My son was married yesterday at the Aquatorium. Even though I had been to Miller Beachas a kid, I never remembered it. It was terrific. Although it was hot outside, the stonebuilding was cool. Beautiful vistas of the lake on three sides. All the guests commentedon the beautiful landscaping in the courtyard. All in all a great facility-maybe not so greatin Winter, though!!

I'm not sure what the last reviewer was looking for in a beach spot but the Aquatorium is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places to view the water. I live just a few blocks from it and I'm glad I do. It's a beautiful structure with some rich history. The gardens are gorgeous and the refurbished area on the first floor would make a great place for any function, formal or otherwise. There is some need for improvement, but the foundation that is caring for the building is doing an excellent job of taking care of it. The building itself is booked nearly a year in advance for WEDDINGS. It is unlikely that this would be the case if it were run down and nasty as the last reviewer said it is.If a high end marina type setting is what you're looking for (Ogden Dunes and the like) then this might not be the place for you. If you're looking for an historic building with all of its character (cracks and all) with a gorgeous view, great banquet facilities, a playground nearby, and Japanese gardens to the west (yes, they're right there, as easy to find as sand on the beach), then the Gary Aquatorium is perfect.
