Really huge. Most Indy residents don't realize its so big, let alone how many historical people are buried here. I've done the tour, it was amazing. Check out the website for tour dates.

Kids from all over the city come to collect leaves for biology projects in the fall. Tourists come to see graves of Harrison, Dillinger and James Whitcomb Riley. The information center has fliers to guide both of these and more. It's also a safe place for a nice run any time of year.

Looking for something different to do while bored in Indy. Decided to visit cemetery. Beautiful grounds and history. Very fun and interesting

So much history, beautiful grounds, beautiful statues & head stones. Loved the Fallen Hero area and enjoyed some Geocaching as well. A person could spend an entire day or 3 here. The place is so big, we had to GPS our car as we lost our bearings being enthralled in the environment.

Crown hill is a great place to bike or hike steeped in history. There are 25 miles of wonderful paved roads with a few mild hills. The view is spectacular and boasts one of the highest points in Marion County. You can see Lucas Oil Stadium and the Motor speedway ion a clear day. Lots of historical figures are buried here. Some of the notables are several of the Lilly family, Ernie Pyle and Mr Gatlin. Although a little weird my wife and I often bike or hike in the winter snow and have a picnic at someones monument. One of the highlights of our year were the Memorial Day Ceremonies. Speeches, military and big guns honoring our veterans. Fun day full of history.

We had a great drive. Stop in at the front and pick up a map as this place is enormous. It is very majestic in some areas. It is worth your while to stop in the chapel with the stain glass windows (forget the name) as they are striking. We also got to see 2 peaceful deer relaxing in a field. Tip: pull up the wiki page and read along as you make the drive.

When our family suggested going on a bike ride to the cemetery, my wife was a little weary, but this ended up being an excellent fall bike ride. We went in October when the leaves were changing and rode to the top of the hill where you can see downtown and look over the tree tops for miles. Really cool and peaceful!! The place is huge and well maintained and we had a very enjoyable afternoon bike ride on a nice fall day.

3rd largest cemetery in the US. Beautiful grounds and the highest point in Indy. Has a national cemetery and a Confederate Cemetery with in the grounds

Beautifully landscaped historical cemetery. I like to visit the resting places of our Presidents and I got to see Benjamin Harrison here. Then threw in John Dillinger for good measure. The sections are plainly marked but that doesn't make them as easy to follow as you would think. Still worth the effort.

My father's best friend own's this cemetery (or rather his company does), so it was a no-brainer to bury him there when he past away at a young age. I visit here regularly to place flowers at his tomb, and honestly they keep the grounds beautifully. You can tell they care about the people who are there, the people who visit, and the surrounding community they are situated in.I always feel safe and comfortable, even during winter, visiting my father's tomb. I can't say enough about it here. They have a lot of historically valuable people buried here, so even for a stroll through history this place is great.

Wonderful program in a unique setting. There is something magical about sitting this close to such wonderful voices, surrounded by gothic architecture and a acoustically perfect venue. A mixture of opera, Broadway and campy popular songs, this program has something for everyone. Afterwards, hike to the top of Crown Hill for a spectacular view of downtown Indy.

Visiting a cemetery for fun? Sounds ghoulish doesn't it? We took our seats in the Gothic Chapel (built in 875) on a crisp, clear evening. We were greeted by witches and warlocks in pointy hats, decorated with light and flair! The Phantom (Charles Manning) entered, and began the evening with wonderful music from the large pipe organ that resides in the Chapel. The Phantom did not let us down, his Music of that Night was fantastic! The phantom singers, (Eric Wickens, Leah Crane) entertained us with fun and scary music spanning several generations. Then the grand finale of love songs from "Phantom" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, his tenor/bass and her lilting soprano gave us chill bumps! After the performance we were treated to donuts, cider, etc. prior to our ghoulish walk through a section of the cemetery. Our guide told us the history and stories of many of the tombs, their occupants and hi-jinks! The walk took us up the hill to the tomb of Indiana's James Witcomb Riley.(author of "Little Orphan Annie". His mausoleum and tomb is at the highest point in central Indianapolis, from which one can see the skyline in 360 degrees! The nightlights of Indianapolis are beautiful. The day view or sunset is just as lovely. Much of the history of Indiana is told in the tombs and mausoleums of Crown Hill Cemetery.

Crown Hill Cemetery is one of the most beautiful cemeteries that you can visit. The cemetery has many famous Hoosiers buried on the grounds, including James Allison, Carl Fischer, Frank Wheeler, and Arthur Newby, the founders of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. President Bejamin Harrison is also buried here. There is also a National Cemetery is also on the grounds, albeit small. If you go to the graves of James Whitcomb Riley and family you will be on the highest point in Indianapolis and have a great view of Downtown.

Lots of famous people here including Ernie Pyle. The cemetery is well cared for & just beautiful with colorful flowers & shrubs everywhere. Very large space dedicated for military which I thought was unusually respectful of our veterans. A good experience.
