Two things pulled up my rating of this winery up from "poor" to "average"--the cider and the view. I have visited this winery on about 5 occasions. The customer service here, 4 out of 5 times, is consistently NOT friendly or inviting. I wouldn't call it pretentious, it's just rude. This place could definitely benefit by giving their employees some training. On visiting a nearby winery the same day, an employee came out from behind the counter, greeted us with a smile, asked how we were doing, how he could help us, etc. At Hauser we walked up to the counter and the woman said, "Do you know what you want?" No smile, no "Welcome". All I can say is, it's a good thing the ideal setting, on a hill with an outstanding view, somewhat makes up for indifference on the part of the staff. The wine here is not great, in my opinion, but I do enjoy the ciders. And the view...

The views are spectacular. I really enjoy the various flavors of Jack. The cinnamon is my favorite along with Helen's. Others have tried the wine and have walked away purchasing several bottles. I highly recommend stopping here! I hope my daughters' want to have their wedding reception here.

First of all - the venue is breathtaking. The drive up the open hill is close to a half mile long & very scenic as you curve up toward the main building. The tasting room is very attractive - with large glass enclosures affording a great view of the valley to the south. The wines I tasted were quite good & there are a lot of events held onsite - I'd highly recommend a visit if wineries are your thing!

The Hauser Estate Winery is located on a knoll with beautiful scenery all around. We enjoyed the wines and bought four bottles and two wine glasses.I wanted to buy the glasses with stems but the Manager said they only could sell me stemless. I don't know why I even bought them. I have this new idea that I buy glasses from the Winery's we visit. We thought the young lady that did our tasting was horrible or for a better choice of words miserable! Never smiled or explained the different wines without us asking. We won't go back!

Visited the estate for the first time (they also have a store on the circle in Gettysburg). There is a large area for tastings and they also have table/seating areas for a group. There isn't a huge selection, but they offer a variety of reds and whites (Apple was the only fruit wine). The Merlot was the best I've had in a long time. They have a variety of events; checkout the Saturday after hours where they stay open later, have live music, and varying food vendors. Be aware, they do charge for the tastings. It is $3 for up to 6 wines; plus $1 additional each for reserve wines and hard ciders.

On this slow Sunday in October, Paula and I found ourselves in Gettysburg, PA enjoying a leisurely stroll through town. We happen upon the Hauser Winery store and decided to stop in. I suggested to Paula that we stop for a wine tasting which she readily agreed to. Upon entering we met Cathy who besides being a die hard Eagles fan was very funny and quite knowledgable about wines and ciders. The wine and ciders were excellent as well as Cathy's explanation of the grapes used, the taste, and possible food pairings as well as her own stories to go along with each. Paula ended up selecting a bottle of Devil's Den and I selected a six pack of Jacks Hard Cider Helen's to bring home with us. If you are ever in Gettysburg on a slow Sunday in October or any other time, I highly recommend that you stop in for a wine and cider tasting and an enjoyable story teller.

Go here on a sunny day, order wine or cider, and sit on the deck or side porch. There was live music outside and food trucks in the parking lot. They have a great selection of ciders on tap along with wine tastings. The view from where they are on top of a hill is perfect. We have to make a stop here every year on our annual trip to Gettysburg. A wonderful stop with a lovely view!

The area is beautiful. In the fall with all the leaves changing , the wine tasting was great! We tasted 7 wines and 1 hard cider, the place is breathing, on top of a mountain, if you every get a chance it's a must, they only have been open for 6 years.

We have visited Hauser several times, and while their wines aren't exactly our "taste", it is a beautiful place and the view alone is worth the trip. Also, some of the events they put on are a lot of fun...we've been to a concert and their soup and wine event and enjoyed both very much.

My friends, family, and I often go here for the live music, great atmosphere, food, and the wine of course. We have always had pleasant experiences and are happy that a place like this is in practically in our backyard! Our favorite group to see is the Willys. A great show and great crowd. Tastings are great too! I recommend visiting on a live music night to really enjoy your visit!

First of all, the views are fantastic from this winery, with lots of outdoor seating. (Though, we wish they had umbrellas with all those tables for shade from the sun!) We thought it was really interesting that the vineyard does both wines and ciders. They had VERY reasonable prices for the tastings -- $3 for 6 wines, $1 more for the reserve wines, $1 for 4 cider tastings and $1 more for the ice cider (similar to an ice wine). The wines were very good, but I will admit that after about the 3rd wine I felt like they all kind of tasted like cherry Jolly Ranchers. But we did enjoy the wines very much. The ciders were all VERY solid and we left with a growler (refill an empty one for only $11!) Worth the views and great wine and cider!

We attended the Gettysburg Rocks Music Fest for the Four Diamonds Fund at Hauser on Aug 10th. What a great time. Music and wine were all superb. Location is beautiful. Three separate areas of music performers setup to meet anyone taste in music and wine tasting areas as well as purchases avail and seating. Food was catered and could be purchased for a nominal price. Only draw back was the steep rocky/dirt driveway to and from the parking area. Not accessible to low sports cars or expensive vehicles that you want to keep nice.

Didn't care for the wine and the staff was a little snobby... The view, however... now that is fantastic... sitting on top of a knoll... you can see vineyards, orchards etc etc

Visited the winery last Saturday evening for one of their special evenings with music outside, first the group they have was a Motown group and were excellent and made the evening a total success. I had not been to Hauser's in about a year or so the first time we had simply stopped by for a wine tasting after visiting several other places in the area and found the person who was handling us to be rude and condescending fortunately this time the young lady manning the outside bar was pleasant and cheerful and very helpful with the selection of our wines for the evening. The wine itself is very good especially if you enjoy a more sweet wine, I can not speak to the dryer wines as I really do not care for them regardless of where they are from.

To get to this hilltop winery you must go up a 1/2 mile unpaved road. If you are on a motorcycle and behind a car, you will breathe in nothing but dust. Even if you are in a car, don't wash it before you visit. Once you get to the top, you enter a beautiful tasting room with an excellent view. For the most part, the staff are friendly. I have been here numerous times and have had varying experiences with the service. The wines run from dry to sweet (Jennie Wade white) and they also have some good hard ciders. Being they are in the heart of apple country, the ciders are pretty good. I do like their cabernet and merlot but it is not something I would necessarily go out of my way for. Of course, the view is worth it and we have enjoyed quite a few bottles here throughout the years. They have entertainment on their deck and even put out a large tree over the holidays. There is an indoor fireplace and it is cozy sitting in front of the fire, sipping a glass of wine on a snowy, wintery day. If you are in the area, it is worth the visit. There is a charge for tastings. The do sell cheese, crackers and Wilbur chocolates, which are great with red wine! You can also bring along your own food, if you wish.
