I've been there for 2 shows, 1 being Tony Bennett. He was awesome and so were the acoustics and ability to see him clearly. The parking is easy as is the exiting. All in all, a great place to see a show.

I have visited the Wharton Center numerous times, for a variety of events, and have never been disappointed. The sight lines are good and the acoustics are excellent. The staff, which includes many students, is helpful and courteous. Parking in the adjacent ramp is especially convenient, although it may take a while to leave after an event. As an added bonus, the Wharton Center is located on the MSU campus, which is large and park like. There are other attractions nearby, including a newly opened art museum, plus all that East Lansing has to offer. I would not hesitate to recommend attending any event at the Wharton.

The Wharton Center is known for providing the Lansing and surrounding areas with amazing performances. This is the perfect date spot. We saw the I love Lucy Show. The staff was very accommodating from picking up the tickets at the box office, to finding seats. The show was sold out and they remained calm and professional. Thanks for another great visit :)

Have been to the Wharton Center many times in my close to 20 years living in the area and it is always special. From concerts to broadway plays there simply is no better place to see a show than at Wharton. I love the mid-century modern feel of the place, the comfortable seating, and the unmatched sound from any seat in the house. The view, however, is not great from the very first row (you sit below the stage and look up at people's feet) or the last few rows of the balcony (where sometimes the upper portions of the stage are blocked). Other than that, this place is fantastic and a real jewel in East Lansing.

We bought tickets to Alton Brown live way before the event date. We were presently surprised to be right in the front row. Up close and personal! Staff can be a bit odd, we had all the future Kindergarten teachers of america as our hosts. Can I just say I feel for the younger generation? "No photos please, and I have seen several" Yes ma'am! Concessions are gourmet, coat room is great, rest rooms easy to get to and the crowd in general is pretty amiable. Parking is attached to the building which makes it nice in winter! We've also been for a ukulele concert, acoustics are phenomenal. Really like the feel and size of the venue.

I have been going to the Wharton center for over 25 years and have enjoyed so many amazing Broadway musicals. It's a wonderful local venue for the arts to be enjoyed by people of all ages.

This is a neat place to see a Broadway show, a ballet or any live entertainment. We have attended many shows there and the only thing it is missing is a center aisle. This sometimes makes it hard to get in and out. The last people that arrive always have seats in the middle, so everyone has to get for them. If people come in late, that is rude. However, once everybody is in, they have great shows. They have a wide variety of shows, something for everyone. Give it a try if you are visiting the campus of MSU.

Seeing any professional theater performance is expensive, but we have always had positive experiences at the Wharton Center. If you use their concession stand, prices are high, but completely avoidable for a two hour show. It is difficult to get to the women's bathroom and back to your seat during the 20 minute intermission, but possible.

The seats are probably 15 inches wide at the most (center to center). If you weigh over 150 pounds (or have a waistline over 32), you will feel cramped. A show over two hours long (no matter how good the performance is), will become tedious.The production my wife and I saw "Gershwin's Porgy and Bess" was very good. Sightlines, accoustics and quality of performers are excellent.I agree with the other reviewers about the stampede to the attached parking garage after the show. Be patient. You will be out of the slow traffic in ten to twenty minutes.

We have been going to performances at the Wharton since we moved to Lansing in 2008. With one exception, we have been overwhelmed with the quality of performances that the Wharton Center brings to East Lansing. When we started going to the Wharton, we bought individual tickets to shows, and ended up in the balcony for popular shows or in the wing seats for not so popular shows. We then became season subscribers so we could obtain better seating toward the center of the auditorium, which I would recommend if you see five shows in the offering that you would like to attend. My only complaint is that there do not seem to be enough public restroom facilities for the size of the audience. If you do not rush out and get into one of the two facilities right at intermission, there is a chance you might miss the start of the second act. Another minor gripe is the lack of a center aisle in the auditorium. While I realize this may remove a hundred seats or so, having to climb over so many pairs of feet to get out of your seat during the intermission is a minor pain (not only for you, but also for fellow playgoers whose feet are sometimes trampled). Be sure to bring at least $5 in cash for parking, as they only take cash. There is a limited concession stand that offers water, mints, candy and the sort. Another bonus is that during Be a Tourist in Your Own Town every summer, part of the tour is the Wharton Center. Take advantage of the tour, which takes you backstage to see how voluminous the stage is. It's fun and informative. The Wharton is truly an asset to our community and I look forward to many more years of enjoyable entertainment there.

My daughters graduation was held here. It was clean, spacious, holds a lot of people and has MSU memorabilia threw out building.

The Wharton Center is such an asset to Michigan State University and the entire Lansing area. The caliber of entertainment presented at the Wharton never ceases to amaze me. I have lived in the Lansing area since 1995 and have attended numerous performances at the Wharton every season. Parking is plentiful, reasonably priced and easy-access. And I always arrive early to purchase some chocolate chip cookies before they sell out!

I am a regular of broadway shows at Wharton Center's Great Hall. It's the exact same road show as you would see in Chicago or Detroit but a fraction of the price. If you are in town and looking for entertainment I highly suggest seeing a show here.

In general Wharton Center in East Lansing, Michigan is a good venue with acceptable acoustics. If you want to pay $5 to park, there is an attached ramp, otherwise good luck finding a spot, as the center is located on the campus at Michigan State University, where parking is hard to find, highly monitored by campus police and not conveniently located. By design, the auditorium itself has no center aisle. If you get to your seat timely, be ready to look at plenty of fannies passing, as shows often do not start on time. In addition, the auditorium is usually on the cool side, so no spaghetti-strap dresses here. The offerings are balanced and the house staff helpful. However, watch out for the box office personnel. Occasionally, errors have been made on my subscription order. This will not be admitted, no apology offfered and one is left wondering if fees are correct. One wants to say, "Lighten up box office."

Wharton has a variety of shows each year from their broadway series. We have enjoyed every one we have attended.
