While Chateau Morrisette has a wide compliment of fine, delicious wines, I am a particular fan of their sweet wines. Their Labrador Logos make their wines great gifts for the dog lover in your life, and their Winery is a fantastic place to visit, have some lunch and enjoy the mountain views! If you are in the area, don't miss out- stop in, and I promise you won't be disappointed! Some of the nicest and knowledgeable tasting staff, and great atmosphere!

Chateau Morrisette is a lovely place through and through. The grounds are beautiful, the wine is delicious, and their wine-tasting experience is top-notch. The guides are very knowledgeable, and one may either tour the winery, the grounds, and the buildings, or relax in the peaceful atmosphere that is this beautiful place. It is laid-back, unassuming and a great place to unwind, take in a few glasses of their Sweet Mountain Laurel, visit their restaurant, or become better informed about the wine-making process. Brian Cheeseborough as Oenologist and Winemaker, is brilliant and highly-acclaimed. His knowledge of the process and willingness to engage visitors is charming, informative, and an experience, in and of itself. There are complimentary wine tours available as well, every day of the week. Wine Tasting events come in both Standard and Elite, $8 per adult for the standard, and $30 for the Elite, which requires a reservation, but is well worth the extra fees. The Elite offers 10 wines selected from current vintages, and possible barrel and/or reserved wine tastings drawn from older vintages. Wine guides discuss wine pairings with food, the local grape varieties, and inform you how Virginia's local grapes are used to enhance the quality of Chateau Morrisette's vintages. Artisan cheeses and chocolates are also served, and the visitor is given a souvenir wine glass.Anyone traveling the area should visit, especially if doing a tour of NC and VA wineries that are very much up and coming, in the South. Chateau Morrisette is a treasure, and should not be overlooked. Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is another wonder of the modern world, this winery is nestled beautifully in the surrounding area. My only caveat is this -- if you are unfamiliar with the area, do not rely solely up on GPS. There are mountain roads that you may wind up lost upon. Call ahead before leaving, and their friendly staff will be more than happy to assist.

We recently visited Chateau Morrisette for a wine-tasting and lunch. It is a beautiful location with great views. The winery employees are friendly and knowledgeable. The wine is fun and enjoyable. We walked over to the restaurant for lunch after our tasting. The food is excellent with a nice twist on typical Southern cuisine (i.e. Shrimp and cornbread grits.)

We showed up un the middle of the week in January, so they were a little dead. As we got up to the doors for a tasting, we realized that they were locking up, and I hate being a burden. However, we'd driven over an hour to get there, I didn't want to go home! Well, their associate, Kevin, came back and opened it back up for us, and this is a HUGE tasting room, just for us, and he gave us a tasting of SO many wines! He was so gracious and never made me feel awkward, and honestly, the only thing that would've made it better was more patrons!! You could tell Kevin really cares about the presentation of the place. I'll definitely go back with a larger group of friends. Oh, and if you normally don't like sangria....try their sangria. I swear I never thought I'd say that!

We live about two hours away and when we go on the Blue Ridge we always stop at the winery. It is in such a lovely location! We usually make two or three trips a year and always enjoy their wines. We usually order their wines on line. We love the Vidal Blanc.

Took a cruise up the Blue Ridge Parkway and stopped for lunch...nice wine, fabulous salad, and the medallions of beef were outstanding. Everyone in our party of six lived their meal and the atmosphere...a must stop of you are in the area or plan it and enjoy some of the best scenery around!

If you are traveling on the Blue Ridge Parkway, this is a special place to stop and have a tour and experience their wine tasting. Great wine! Really enjoyed them, have ordered their wine online since, and love the Mountain Laurel varieties.

We had very good time enjoying tasting some local vines. This place is little hidden treasure in mountains of Virginia. We had founded by accident and really enjoy it.

I have been to a lot of wineries and usually find something unique and interesting about each one. We stopped by on a Monday and were the only ones there. The staff was not very welcoming and seemed to have the attitude that we were bothering them with our presence. Our tasting was very rushed with very little information about the winery or the wines. After the tasting our server left immediately to talk with other staff. Tastings are overpriced at $8. The location and the building are great but the experience left us less than enamored with Chateau Morrisette.

Thanks for the great review and for being such a long-time loyal customer. Hope you can come back to see us again soon. Our chef has been with us for a little over two years and he changes our menu seasonally to allow us to serve the freshest ingredients. We grow many of the vegetables we serve in our vineyard garden and try to buy locally whenever possible.

Thanks for the great review. Our new menu has been very well received. We change it quarterly, keeping only our signature items. Hope you can come back again soon and try the next menu too! I'm very glad you enjoyed your visit.

Thank you for the feedback. We recognize that the main dining room with the updates and renovations is a little loud and we are looking into ways to make it a bit more quiet. Sorry about the roast beef, I'll be sure to let Chef know you were unhappy with it.

The wine is great. Not much more to say about that....I am a forever fan. Selection is wonderful. Winery staff are welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We attended during the BBQ festival. We found the winery a little crowded on the inside (patrons lined the tasting bars), quiet, serene, and uneventful on the outside (empty tables, gorgeous flowers, cornhole). We were also dropped off by a wagon from the BBQ festival and not picked back up until much later. Needless to say, being stranded was not fun. We ended up walking about a half mile until someone finally picked us up so that we could return to hear the end of the concert. Later, that evening, we gave the restaurant a chance to redeem the earlier abandonment. The food was overall great. Our server was super. We recommend the salmon and spinach pasta. We love how the menu had recommendations for every entree and appetizer choice. And the menu was perfectly different with lots of locally grown choices. Desserts were a huge disappointment. The view was breathtaking. Both the winery and restaurant have lovely flowers and great places for pictures. We were a large party celebrating a special weekend. I would return.

On the day we visited, the chateau was hosting a dog shelter who was offering them for adoption. A small band was playing and locals had bought their picnics to sit under the covered area outside and listen to the music. Inside for $8.00 you can have a wine testing of 10 offerings. Our wine steward was a lovely older gentleman with a warm smile, quick wit, and personal interest in wine. The wine was 5 out of 10 scale on par with much of what can be found in the supermarket.
