We had a great round at the Homestead Old Course. Given the harsh mountain winter weather the course was in great shape. We pretty much had the course to ourselves and had time to enjoy the spectacular setting of this Donald Ross gem.

Very nice course. Wide open and very lush greens. Make sure you bring bug spray, gnats are terrible. History of the course is worth it in itself to visit.

We were at the Homestead for the VDA mtg. We came early to play the old course. The course was in great condition and the weather was perfect. The greens were extremely fast but true. It takes some getting use to to play the slopes of both the fairways and greens.

You can play golf 18 holes of golf on the Homestead Old Course after 3:00 pm during the week for only $70. I played alone and it was outstanding both in the layout of the course and the beautiful scenery. September is a great month to visit the Homestead.

The course is beautiful and very well maintained, but look out for the gnats. They swarm everywhere--if you can, WEAR bug spray cloths, or keep a can with you and spray frequently.

The Old Course is a very nice golf course. The first tee is the longest tee in continuous operation in the US. The course is hilly (slope of 126, from the senior tees), but there are no water hazards. It is unusual in that there are 6 par 5 holes, 6 par 4 holes, and 6 par 3 holes. In one part of the course, there are three par 5 holes in a row. Still, it is an enjoyable course, and the scenery is excellent, with many mountain views. Very green. When we were there, the weather was near perfect, but there were an abundance of annoying gnats. Bug spray worked, but only for a little while. We did not have quite enough. Bring lots of bug repellant if you are planning to play in the summer.

The Old Course at The Homestead is fine but not outstanding. It is in good condition and you can feel the spirit of Sam Snead and US Presidents (if you have read the blurb beforehand and you read the markers at the tees). Some of the views are wonderful - steep hillsides, trees galore. But is it as good a track as it's made out to be? OK, I played there well so I am probably a little biased as to how good it is. But it is pricey for what in essence is a pretty ordinary short course. And how can a round on a short course last for 5 hours? The outstanding feature though, and it's a negative one, is the noise from the road which dissects the course. It's awful with heavy trucks and other vehicles trundling past all round, all day. Sadly, that destroyed the good feelings we had about the course.

Just a very nice mountain golf course. It's kind of the red-headed stepchild to The Cascades Course, but it's also much more user-friendly and in great condition. Good fairways and very good greens. The view of The Homestead from the 14th tee is about as good as it gets.

This golf course has a nice track that takes you through beautiful mountains and nature, so it is a pleasure just to take time along the way to soak in all the natural beauty. The quality of the course and the condition don't really merit the level of the green fee, but you pay a premium when you play at any classic resort, so that is not really unexpected.

The greens and fairways were some of the greenest and perfectly manicured as I have ever seen. The Falconry was awesome and I wish I had stayed longer for a repeat..very exciting!

This is the third time that I have played the Old Course. Greens and fairways were perfect. Pace of play was good. This course is great for my confidence. You can reach most of the par 5's in two and the fairways are wide open. The course isn't too long which is fine with me. Definitely a fun course to play with awesome views of the mountains and the resort.

We played here first and loved it. The course is impeccable. Well maintained and beautiful. It was challenging and interesting. You should not miss an opportunity to play here.

For an older style course this is okay. The fairways are a but bumpy not billiard table smooth like most newer courses. THe distances are short so even average players like me have a chance at an eagle on the par 5s. Lot of par 5s and 3s, so it's not a boring place to play. A couple of really nice holes. I'd play it again I suppose. But it's not on my "must play here again" list.

Challenging but fair, fantastic views of the surrounding area. The halfway house in great need of renovation and cleaning of rest rooms.

Well maintained nice layout and fairly unchallenging, welcoming staff and good condition with small fast greens and open fairways
