old time string shop & general mercantile

The Old Time String Shop & General Mercantile, downtown, is a unique shop that combines stringed and other instruments, and old-timey merchandise -- items that you might have found in a general store 60 years ago: hand-made brooms, vintage-looking oil lamps, neat old fashioned toys. The original owner (Steve) is interesting to talk to, although he's sometimes busy in back. The store is located behind the Visitor's Center, on the corner, and walking distance to other neat stores. I think it's been there about 35 years, so it's a Nacogdoches "Institution". They have "fiddle playin" (Bluegrass music ) on some Saturdays.
