This is my brother's favorite golf course and he plays all over the country. It is challenging with a wide open front nine where your ball has an expansive fairway to travel, so for those of us with less skill and accuracy, the first eight holes are less tricky. The back nine however, are very tightly wound around a large scenic lake and tree copses, housing, and all manner of narrow angles. Perfect for the skilled golfer looking to perfect directional accuracy and back spin. The restaurant bar area isn't bad for a municipal course, and has plenty of outdoor seating facing the horizon at sunset, with a pretty view of all the greenery and the swans.

We love visiting this place with a great view in the summer. Indoor or out door layed back relaxed service. Food and service is good also.

They have a room with a very nice view of the course and north Coralville. The wrap and salads were quite good, food came quickly, we'll be back

They have good food. Just wished they had more variety for vegetarians. But it is a fun way to spend an evening watching people golfing and having some cold beer.

OK, Brown Deer is no Pebble Beach, but it's a great value, fairly challenging and a fun course to play. It's one of the courses we always play in the Iowa City area. Nice restaurant, too. While a short course, water comes into play on several holes as do elevation changes, adding to the challenge. Each time we've play, the conditions have been good, but I've always played in the fall so I can't talk to summer conditions. Sand traps aren't the plentiful. When there are traps, they're usually around the greens - just a few fairway traps.Brown Deer is very convenient to Iowa City. It's easy to get to if you're in town for a game.

Brown Deer is Just GREAT! Always well maintained and great staff. Great greens, not an easy course by any means, plenty of traps and narrow drives. Challenging but not nerve racking.

This city owned course is a tale of two nines. The front nine is an open but fun course. The back nine (which originally was the only nine until they expanded) is narrow and difficult. Winding through houses, this nine is very tight with no room for error. Expect to lose a few balls in the trees and water.

very well run for small events. the staff was very pleasant and had a great time. the community and view is absolutely amazing from the club house. other places should visit this establishment to understand the true meaning of a "business" great!!

Played Brown Deer Golf Club while on a trip in August 2012.This is an 18-hole par-71 course. The course measures 6315-yards from the gold tees, 5853-yards from the blue tees and 5367-yards from the white tees. There is also a set of red tees. Water comes into play on a number of holes. This was a fun course to play.
