I have been a few times as part of a photo hike and I participated in their first of the year hike for 2014. It has some nice paths and is a peaceful woodsy place. There are some old interesting structures from the now defunct Bancroft Mill. There is also a wall that is used for rock climbing but I have not been able to book that yet so I that is one experience I look forward to.

Tried to find this park while visiting town with my dog. My GPS could not locate it and the local signs ended somewhere short of the actual park Drove around the neighborhood for 1/2 hour trying to find it, then left.

It was incredibly hard to figure out where to access this park from, and where to park. We went to the park headquarters, it was fenced in and closed. The signs were confusing. We ended up leaving the car parked in front of a house in a neighborhood, and walking up to "blue Bell Barn" ( I think that was the name). There we finally saw parking. The park itself is fun, nice trails.

Off road trails or paved trails, rock climbing area, quiet & scenic views, along the water & amazing views make you feel like you're not in Delaware.

We went here for a hike on Mothers' Day. It is a beautiful park with plenty of things to do and see as are all Delaware State Parks!

Whenever I go on a trip I look forward to finding new places to run. Alapocas Run did not disappoint! I happened to luck out in the timing of my trip; the fall foliage was at its peak, making it even more beautiful. There are several trails that wind through a park that is filled with mature trees, creeks, and granite rocks. Along with your running shoes, don't forget you smart phone for many picture opportunities or if you get lost on a trail (which you shouldn't the trails are very well marked). If you're a runner, you have to check this place out!

I love this park, I have been to many in the area and this along with Brandywine Park (which is very close) and Lums Pond park are some of my very favorite ones. The area is very well kept and there is a 10 mi. trail which connects both Brandywine and Alapocas state parks. I love the trees and the scenic views. It is very peaceful and there are some historical sites which you can visit or bring your children to. There are also lots of 'blue rocks' which I found very interesting. Bring comfortable shoes as well as water and maybe some snacks.

This area has some great forest tracks that can also lead you down to the river and other parts of town. Good if the weather is ver hot and humid as you will be in shade the whole time.

Alapocas State park is home to lovely woodlands and hiking/biking trails. Stroll along the brandywine or take a canoe ride. The park is well-maintained and trails are well marked for those unfamiliar with the area. Serene and peaceful setting.

It's a nice little park. Well kept, paved paths. I understand they even have a rock climbing wall now. Cool! Just be careful crossing the road in Alapocas woods when you're on the trail. It's a winding road that cars really zip along.

Call the park office to get a reservation for a climbing group. Really fun and very well run program.

The recent upgrades to Alapocas Run includinging connecting it to other trails has been amazing. I used to enjoy the paths through the woods with my dog years ago but love it even more now. Nice combination of paved and stone paths that you follow through a variety of settings (meadows, woods riverfront). The fact that you can walk from N.Wilmintonton near Rock Manor to Trolley Square through a beautiful, natural setting is such a fabulous asset to our city. We like to park near the Can-Do playground off Foulk Rd (note: you must have a state park pass or pay the daily fee in warmer months) and walk past the sports fields and Blue Bell Barn into Alapocas Woods and down to the Riverfront. Note there is a very steep hill that is a good challenge for walkers, runners and bikers alike. If you enjoy the outdoors you will enjoy Alapocas Run State Park.

You're basically looking at a forest within the city. There's a 6 mile, very hilly path that is perfect for running. Additionally, there's a playground area for young kids and the river which is just right for throwing stones. Walkable is the zoo.

For years, I have been using the Alapocas Woods Trail for walks and biking, but now that three trails are connected (Alapocas Woods Trail, the PawPaw Trail and the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail), I've been exploring the entire circuit. This really is a great resource. From the Brandywine River, you can go all the way to the Blue Ball Barn, around to the Can-Do Playground, and --- actually -- all the way to Bellevue Park via bike (or run/walk). I sometimes park near the Can-Do playground just to walk my dog. During the spring and summer, you need a park pass if you are a car-bound frequent visitor. You can also pay a use fee per visit. Otherwise, the park is open as a community resource. Great job DNREC!
