Was amazing just needs water at Sites. Other than that place is amazing. Beautiful trails and creeks running through there and into a pond. Wonderful place

on My trip to discover Tennesse we stopped by Rock Creek Park , but to be honest nothing exciting I found about the park , just an average park

Good hike up to rock creek falls. Another trail up to unaka mountain overlook. The swimming hole is good size but extremely cold since its right off the mountain spring. Good play areas for kids. Decent creek that runs beside the whole park. Never camped there but great for a days visit.

Hiked the Rock Creek Falls Trail on April 2, 2014. The trail was lovely, with lots of small falls before the final big falls at the top. The trail surface is good, but there are four big stream crossings. The streams were easy enough to cross with a couple of poles / long walking sticks. The stream is not deep, so no fear of drowning, but your shoes might get wet.We walked at a moderate pace, and stopped a few times as the going got steeper. The trail was 1.5 miles long. We spent two hours going up, and one hour coming back down.There is a $2 per vehicle day-use fee.

Camped at Rock Creek twice this summer, Rates are good at 15 dollars a night with electric. No water or sewer hook ups. There was a water faucet just below our site but no way to connect a hose to fill water tank. the sites are some of the best i have ever stayed in with tons of space between each site. Most sites have at least 100 feet between them, gravel level sites with nice heavy tables. I was able to navigate the campground easily with my 35ft Holiday Rambler motorhome. Several nice trails, small creek flowing close but no sites on creek, large swimming pond fed by creek, pond was clean but extremely cold due to it being creek fed. Playground for kids nice but pretty far from campsites. We have stayed 2 weekends this summer, First trip was early in spring and the bath house we tried to use had no hot water and was not very clean, camp sites were clean but the areas between sites left a lot to be desired for a view with lots of downed brush from recent tree cutting, The campground host never waved, smiled, or even looked our way the whole weekend, The second weekend was late summer, the bathouse did have warm water this time but was extremely nasty and we decided to skip showers due to the nasty, Again the host did not speak, wave or even look our way when walking past his space. The sites were messy with small items of trash, the fire pit was nearly full to top (there fire pits are 2 feet tall) there was a pile of ash from where the fire pit had been clean out previously but it was right beside the site (10 ft away). Cars were speeding through campground, poision oak growing onto the space where tents set up, still lots of brush debri all around sites. the host rode thru a couple times but never even looked our way. The gates are locked at 10pm so i parked in parking lot outside gate friday night and saturday i decided to go rent a movie for the kids to watch at bedtime and was cornered by Forest service person (he was extremely rude). He made me exit my car, took my ID, questioned me rudely wanting to know where i was from, how many time i have been there and then finally ask why i was parked in the parking lot. I explained I was camping and my job requires me to be available 24 hours a day so i parked outside gate. He informed me that the campground was up the road and the parking area outside the gate is off limits after 10pm, He said I had choice to pay 2 dollars for parking there or pay 75 dollar fine. he quickly drew a crowd watching and made it the most humiliating experience of my life. He finally after 15 min said he is gonna let it slide this time, returned my ID and walked away. So saturday night i was afraid to go thru this again and parked at our site, at 1:30 am i recieved a call and could not respond to do my job and lost large amount of pay. I did walk to gate and checked and it was locked, at that point i began thinking what happens if someone has a true emergency, what if storm hits and someone is injured and on and on, SO we will not return there due to all the above. The place has so much potential with a little effort, also we spend lots of weekends at the state park and the security told me there it is illegal to lock gates they said gates can be shut but must remain unlocked. In the future we will return to Roan Mountain State Park. We camped with family on 2 sites in motorhomes

I'm looking to move to this area. I'm standing in my sight right now eating breakfast and although it rained last night and is still sprinkling now, this easily accessible, affordable campground nestled in the side of the Appalachian mountains wonderfully captures everything so sweet and simple to this area of the country! Sturdy tables and fire rings, hot showers, although only the handicap one in circle 3 works right now for the men's room so you have to bend down, electric at site, prices cheaper than most pay areas in the country, and a little kitchen station near the fire ring that has an overhang where you can store supplies and prep food. Also some sturdy lantern/multi purpose racks.

Nice area, "away from it all" - but still close to home. Beautiful color in the fall. Gorgeous blooms on the rhodos in the early summer.

Swimming, Camping, hiking and special events all summer long! For me the best part is that the temperature is an average 10 degrees cooler than in the valley.

We got pizzas from little ceasers in ewrin an went to the picnic tables at the park. its so peacful and quite. something our family really enjoys

I think Rock Creek Park is a nice place to come for a picnic or a nature walk. If you love hiking like I do, there is a trailhead at the back of the campground that will take you to Rock Creek Falls. It's a nice hike with a rewarding waterfall at the end. The swimming area is interesting. It's a stream filled "pond". People love it though. I have never camped up there but it's always busy when we go up.

Mountain stream-fed pool - on the hottest day of the year it's the coolest place in the mountains. In fact I dare you to dive in. Camping - 21 sites have electric hookups, including five double sites. Scenic mountains, near the Appalachian Trail. Bike and hiking trails. The town of Erwin is an easy car ride of a mile or a two below in the Valley, with a couple of good restaurants. Asheville is about 50 miles away. Open May through October. Modest day and camping fee. It's very rarely hot here, the that mountain stream fed pool is always very, very, very cool.

Creek and woods and parking spaces. Not a whole lot more. Scenery is not spectacular. Have never been tempted to explore a whole lot.
