This is a pleasant, well maintained museum wth interesting exhibits and a very nice gift shop where books and some replicas of Civil War memorabilia can be purchased. Lincoln University's attractive campus is located behind the museum.

My 5 yr old daughter loves Abraham Lincoln and we live in a neighboring city so we went to check it out. There's not much there, however there is a little tent with dress up clothes and Lincoln logs that my 4 & 5 yr old enjoyed:) I wouldn't make a special trip but if you live close it's nice for a 1 time visit. The person working there was great tho and they had nice souvenirs for kids & adults:)

My cousin took us here and I must say it was interesting, educational. But the reason I didn't give it an excellent rating is two-fold. I have knee/back issues, asked staff at desk the location of the elevator. Was told there isn't one. Went upstairs with my cousin, not much up there, some old medical artifacts. That was a disappointment. Re: the length of visit, depends. If you are the sort of person that likes to read everything in a museum, then 1-2 hours. If you are the sort of person that glances at the reading material, then less than 1 hour. We did speak with the ? curator and he was telling of future plans for improvement. If I'm ever in the Harrogate area in the future and the improvements have been made, I would probably return.

It is a great lesson in history with several interesting items from Lincoln. Only takes @ 30 minutes to go thru two floors with stairs or an elevator and the cost is $5. LMU is a great campus behind this building.

If you would have told me I could find a museum like this in Harrogate, TN I'd have thought you were crazy. This museum houses a fine collection of Lincoln memorabilia as well as civil war artifacts. On the grounds of Lincoln Memorial University, the museum hosts many school groups and allows university students majoring in history to study there.

We spent longer than expected at the museum as it was so interesting and well-presented. There were numerous Lincoln artefacts and exhibits which really helped us to understand how Lincoln lived and became President. Great value for such an interesting place. The civil war exhibit was very good, a little gruesome in places, but well worth seeing.

If you've never been to Harrogate, TN before, the last thing that you might expect to find is a museum dedicated to Abraham Lincoln. Yet, right there on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University is one. The museum is easy to find. It's just off the highway. All you need to do is look for the big picture of Lincoln on the building. There is free parking beside the museum as well. There is an admission fee for the museum, but with they do have a Show Your Card and Save discount from AAA. With this, our family of five paid a little more than ten dollars. The museum is very well kept. Nice and clean as well as the restroom facilities. I was a little worried that our younger boys might get a little bored with the museum since there were a lot of pictures and reading about the displays. I was certainly wrong. A lot of interpretation was done through dioramas, and the kids loved these. Also, the museum now also has a couple of hands on areas where the kids can dress up or play games from the Civil War area. As an adult, I was really captivated by the wealth of history that the museum has. The highlight is Lincoln's walking stick that he had on the night of his assassination at Ford's Theatre. The upstairs had displays about medicine during the Civil War. There were some rather gruesome pictures in this area. Had I know this ahead of time, I would've steered my younger boys away sooner. They just were not appropriate for younger kids. Our tour lasted about 45 minutes- self guided. Pictures are permitted without a flash. There is a small gift shop at the front as well. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised by our stop here. I hope we can go again some time.

Just driving through the Cumberland Gap Tunnel and happened across this wonderful museum, sure glad we stopped. Fascinating collection and interestingly displayed. A real surprise, wish it were more well known. Will have to make more time and stop in again when traveling through the area. Lovely building too.

We have been to the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum several times over the past 3 years or so. Our daughter is fascinated with Lincoln and loves to go there. It's not the all-encompassing, gigantic museum you would expect to find in Western Kentucky or in Springfield. However, it does have a many artifacts and information to keep you occupied. The downstairs area is a pretty settled exhibit area that usually contains the same things in it, such as a bed that Lincoln slept in, a hutch built by his father, and china from the White House. It also houses several 3-D diaramas of events in Lincoln's life (such as he early years on the Mississippi) and statues of Lincoln. The upstairs area is a revolving exhibit area that often has themes that change from time to time. Two of the ones we have seen were Weapons in the Civil War and one on Films featuring/about Lincoln's life. Both were really nice and had artifacts donated to the museum. It takes about an hour or so to go through this museum, even with small-ish kids who want to see things. It's well worth the price that you pay to go through it. The University/Museum also has many different events through the year on different topics relating to Lincoln. We took our oldest to their Christmas with the Lincolns event last year and she loved it.

If you have an extra hour to spare and you like History and The Civil War era, this is a nice place to visit. The exhibits are very informative and there were many things I learned about Mr. Lincoln that I never knew before.

close to everything, lots of intresting little facts you would not know. Lots of friendly staff to talk too. Great photo of the Four Season Resort that was there in the 1700/1800 until it was Dismattled.

The two presentations were extraordinary. Our kids really learned and retained the information given. Great effects. Nice arrangement of Lincoln's life and artifacts. I would go back again. Didn't feel overly crowded.

Small museum but worth the price of admission and an hour of your time. Drive through the LMU campus, which is very important to students in this region.

The Lincoln Library and Museum at Lincoln Memorial University is a nice tribute to Lincoln and offers many insights into his life and contributions. The diversity of the displays is appealing, and the presentations are well executed. It is well worth a visit, and the entry fees are very reasonable.

Thank God I did not read the negative comments beforehand. Honestly guys what do you expect? We are not in Chicago where of course you are going to get a bigger museum. I came to Cumberland Gap for this & knew I only had a hour or so but spend almost a hour & a half there. It is beautifully laid out, well documented, excellent artifacts & I learned a bit more about Lincoln and how he became the man he was. Yes it is a bit out of the way but it is worth it. The gentleman I met beforehand was also very courteous. In short if you are in the area pls go. It is excellent. Not sure about upstairs where the cinema section was but overall this is excellent.
