Rock island state park tn - stayed here in December ,very cold obviously during winter time , pretty area like most of Tennessee, water falls and great hiking, bathrooms very clean and lots of level rv sites. Friendly staff and nice camp host.

We visitor Rock Island State Park as part of our family Christmas and stayed in one of the cabins. They were not bad at all and very reasonable. Three bedrooms, two baths, kitchen and sitting area were the cabin's floor plan. We went hiking on one of the many trails and saw multiple deer and wild turkey. The river was awesome and features great kayaking year round.

Great place to hike with amazing scenic waterfalls. I suggest hiking up stream and downstream, the views of the waterfalls are amazing!

Rock Island was the perfect quick trip for our family reunion. Our crew occupied three cabins which were conveniently located near everything we needed for the weekend (trails, waterfalls, antique shops, gas station, and more!). The cabins were not fancy but they served their purpose just fine. Would definitely recommend Rock Island to anyone interested.

I love the outdoors amd this is the perfect place to go. Good place for taking photos of nature and family, hiking, going on a Sunday stroll, ect. We bring our dogs and they enjoy it too. Just be sure to check for ticks when you get home they seem to be very bad down there for some reason.

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths. Clean. Not the newest facility, but not severely dated either. Living nearby, we rented this for an overnight school group team-building experience. With a total of 7 people staying there, it was more than big enough. There was plenty of kitchen and dining room area. Living room area was enhanced by the open-area connection with the dining room. It is NOT a resort; you will not experience luxury here. However, if your point is to put up 6-10 people in a single facility, this will work. (14 years ago, people visiting our wedding stayed here and enjoyed it quite nicely). I never went upstairs myself, but neither of the 2 bedrooms downstairs had TVs; the only TV in the unit appeared to be the one in the living room.As far as the park itself, we are not major park-goers, so I'll leave you to others' advice. In our multiple experiences, the park does have several good facilities - shelters, grills, fields, etc. Cost is about $160 per night.

On a whim we traveled to Rock Island State Park. Lots of areas to stop and view the scenery. Great place for pictures and fall colors. Loved the stone bridge and the walking bridge near the playground. Great place for families with kids of all ages. Picnic areas, playgrounds, and restrooms available. Very enjoyable!!

If you are looking for relaxation, here is the spot to visit. It is a great place to take a walk and take in all the scenery and enjoy being by the water.

What a great little state park. We stayed at the campground in a 37ft fifth wheel. The spot was level, paved, roomy, and well maintained. The restrooms could have been a little cleaner but I wouldn't complain. It is a campground after all. They were heated and had lots of hot water, which was great since the days we were there it wasn't extremely warm. The staff were very friendly and offered plenty of good information about the park. The park is located in a beautifully wooded area on the Caney Fork River. There are several hiking trails in the park, all manageable for a beginning hiker. The way the trails are rated isn't accurate in my opinion. We hike a ton and when a trail says strenuous it usually is. These ones were simple walks and I'm not certain why they would be rated this way. Regardless, they are all worth the time and effort. What a wonderful place to spend a week camping.

It is a small site, but it was easy to get to the historic buildings, the visitor center, and to see the falls. We enjoyed this park, even if it was a short visit!

We really like this park. Very cozy and woodsy camp sites. We love to go swimming in the hotter months. Love to climb the rocks. There is a nice little restaurant at the store/gas station in town. There are a few trails to hike, but nothing spectacular. A walk in the woods, really. They have cabins too that look very nice.

Great campground, recently renovated. Wifi available to all campsites. Good trails down to river considering steep terrain. If your a fisherman there are many opportunities as the river is the headwaters to centerhill lake. Boat ramp in the park. Staff very friendly.

Rock Island State Park is simply amazing! There are multiple waterfalls. The trails are beautiful and you can get right next to some of the falls. It is a MUST SEE to appreciate the true beauty. Be prepared to hike & climb on rocks, but it is well worth the effort!

The views are wonderful ..if you can find an area that isn't overgrown with brush. Trash isn't picked up in beach area..the tennis court was open, so we enjoyed that. The trails aren't well maintained. ..if you want to visit a great park I'd recommend Cummings Falls..or Bledsoe park.... this one just Isn't a favorite in our book... but the bathrooms have soap, paper towels and toilet paper. .the park did have some nice picnic tables in some areas...but for hikers with kids, these trails are just too grown over with weeds to be enjoyable. Oh and the "play area" is pretty bare..a swing and a small climable slide structure with a sand pit..

My preteens loved jumping in the river from the numerous rock ledges. I wish there were more picnic areas because the place was packed on the day we went. the staff in the office were very friendly and helpful
