Wonderful view looking out over the valley. Can get some great sunset pics. Some neat short little paths to hike on and a longer path through the valley if you are up for it.

Definitely worth the few minutes to pull off the road to take some photos. Plenty of space to safely pull off the road.

We find a lot of gems by just driving & seeing a Visitor Center & stopping. This is one of them. We're on the road from the Alamosa KOA bound for Cripple Creek. Hwy 24 in the Pike National Forest. It comes on you quick, after climbing a hill going Eastbound. We needed a bathroom break & fortunately there was room for us. The bathrooms are disappointingly still pit toilets. I was better off going in the camper. They have a lot of information kiosks about the area & Pikes Peak. There's also a small gift shop. What is REALLY nice for day hikers is the short hike (I want to say 1 mile lollipop loop) called Puma Point. On the right side of the gift shop is the trailhead. It's wonderful!! Not too steep of an incline, to an incredible view. Worth a stop.

Wilkerson Pass marks the Eastern end of South Park. Eastbound traffic slows from 65m.p.h to 35-40m.p.h. Beautiful aspen leaves to slow down for in Fall. Many visions of hidden deer and elk are in the aspen groves. This is good hunting area with easy access. There is a visitor's center on top. It is open as staffing allows. There are cool nature paths and signs explaining the area.

Views of the Sawatch Range and the Collegiate Peaks!Take time to pull over from your drive heading west or east on highway 24 and you will learn something!

I'm an outdoor person, so I love to travel to out of the way places with beautiful sights and plants.

Wilkerson Pass marks one of edges of the vast South Park. You can envision the inland sea that once covered the high plains below. Good interpretive signage and helpful volunteer staff in summer.

This is a fun little place to stop and use the spacious restrooms and hike around the various trails. The gift shop is interesting as well with books, maps and souvenirs. Other than that, there really isn't that much to do here. You'd be hard-pressed to spend more than 30 minutes here.

This pass is an easy drive with great views. If you look west you see the great expanse of South Park. If you look east you can see Pikes Peak. And the heated bathroom is a bonus especially in the winter.

Westernhorizon

One of the best Mountain Valley Views in Colorado. This is a must stop rest stop at the top of the pass on HWY 24 West...if you're lucky the gift shop may even be open.

We travel over Wilkerson Pass weekly for outings from our home. We NEVER get tired of the view as we ascend and descend from the summit. SPECTACULAR!!! So glad the view is not destroyed by commercialism. Thank goodness the USFS owns the land surrounding this beautiful spot.

Great photo op and views - we live here so are taking people there year around - ranger station has wonderful books and educational materials for all ages.

Bicycling over Wilkerson Pass is an experience to remember. Great views in several directions going either directions. A surmountable challenge.

From the first time I drove over the summit into the pass, and every time since, I know I'm living in the west when I drive through the Wilkerson Pass. The vast open space, the herds of antelope and buffalo, and the vista of the collegiate peaks is stunning. If ever you have an opportunity to drive from the Springs to destinations west. Take this route. You'll find it awe inspiring.

When the aspen trees turn in the fall, the sight is spectacular. There's a good rest stop at the summit, too.
