The park hosts a number of musical and cultural events from spring through fall but my absolute most favorite is the annual Tulip Festival held every year on Mother's Day to honor Albany's Dutch heritage. The park is ablaze with almost 200,000 tulips planted by the city garden crew. There is music, food, crafts and hundreds of people taking pictures of the huge variety of tulips. Well worth a visit.

This park has a spectacular tulip display early every May. The park is 81 acres and dates back to the 1600's.

Washington Park is most beautiful when the tulips are blossoming, hence Tulip Fest every Mother's Day weekend. Festivals occur regularly in the warm months and its proximity to Lark Street is great if you work up and appetite wandering around. That being said, don't do too much wandering alone after dark. As a former resident of that neighborhood, I can attest that it's not terribly safe at night.

Great as a public event venue, walking, jogging, picnic with family, read a book under the shade of a tree, people watch, meet friends for lunch at park bench...etc.

This is an historic park in an older part of Albany. The park is circled by brownstones and was designed by the guy who designed Central Park in NYC. If you can get here for the Tulip Festival, I would highly recommend it as the flowers add a whole different level of enjoyment. They do great plays in the summertime and periodically have concerts and other events. Not sure that the park is a destination, but it's a great place to spend an hour or so. I particularly like the statue of Moses! And the Holiday Lights in the Park are a great winter event!

Washington Park is a gem in the heart of Albany, New York. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead (who also designed Central Park in NYC and the Emerald Necklace in Boston), Washington Park is a wonderful retreat into nature at any time of year. It's a popular dog walking spot; in the summer is the site for pick up volleyball games, sunbathing, jogging, cycling; hosts the Holiday Lights in the Park in December, and around Mother's Day features spectacular displays of tulips (bring your camera). The Lake House hosts community theater productions in mid-summer.

This was a wonderful drive thru Christmas light display - It took about 45 minutes - well worth the donation of $15 per car.

My daughter and I walked through this park with my sister in law on a recent visit to Albany. I had not been here for many years even though I was born in the Albany area, as I now live overseas. We took a nostalgic walk, visiting the peaceful gardens, ponds and bath house. The statue of Moses was particularly impressive with the surrounding gardens. We walked through the park to Lark Street and looked up places where family members had lived, worked and married. It was a lovely afternoon to be in the Park.

Went for a run through and around park. Has a great waterway with adjacent walking/riding (not driving) road. Picture perfect walkways. Not too big so can see the whole park in a 45 minute walk. It's easy to miss, so make the effort to check it out. If you have more time, a few blocks east is downtown.

When in season they do a fantastic job. It is like candy for your eyes. Good musicals during the summer nights. A so-so playground. The holiday lights are tacky but a great local park for those in the area......don't miss the fountain and flowers. Oh, dogs have a great time here as well.....don't forget to pick up after them...thanks.

The tulips are just so beautiful and varied when the weather is just right. You can walk around at your leisure and you find many people with their cameras preserving the memories.

This park is a gem. A Fredrick Law Olmstead designed park, it gives the feel o Central Park on a smaller scale. Lovely to walk through. Especially beautiful at tulip time in May.

The black old man who is mostly balded hardly opens the main door through which public can enter the building. I notice when there is other guy working, he keeps opened the main door so that public can easily enter the building and use the restroom.I feel really inconvenient to ask him all the time if I can pass through his office area and use the restroom. Instead, why couldn't he just keep opened the main door? I mostly see him with his office door only opened.
