It was great in may aspect! The museum is huge and very nice! There was a show of Ai wei wei that caught me! It was paints, sculptures, films, pictures, almost everything from this special artist that is in prison in CHINA! I loved!

I admit to being a bit of a museum snob. It just never occurred to me that there could be such a great museum in Brooklyn. But there it is, literally steps away from a subway stop. And wow! There's a terrific Egyptian section, a great exhibit of American decorative art, a very thoughtfully curate exhibit of African art, a fascinating exhibit devoted to representations of life and death in the Americas, and a whole lot of this and that. Like Brooklyn itself, the museum seems to have an eclectic collection and is doing a beautiful job displaying it. And if your here before the end of May: run don't walk to the fantastic exhibit of Kehinde Wiley's work. I highly recommend going on a weekday as weekends (especially the forts Saturday of the month when admission is free) get pretty busy.

A great venue in hip Brooklyn, it's an amazing museum. Especially after renovation and new exhibits. They represent many of the cultures throughout the world. Great for a family family and not tourist-oriented.

Grew up going here. I remember when it was dark & skoopy when we went on class trips. Has been updated & improved tremendously. But 1st Saturday used to be very nice now it overcrowded last few I went to I got there very early to assure entry. The museum try to keep bringing visiting collections to interest the community

This is a fine museum, particularly strong in American decorative arts. But now that we have visited twice, it would take a special exhibition to get us to go back. It was a pleasure that it was so un-crowded, from a visitor's point of view, but it must be worrisome for the museum to not attract more visitors. The cafeteria is good and the coat check is terrific--they will accept small suitcases and other bags. There is a subway stop right outside the front door which makes life a whole lot easier--it was around zero the day we visited! Maybe that's why the museum was not more crowded.....

Live music, elegant, white linen dining and convenient MTA commute from Manhattan. Check website for 1st Saturday schedule of events.

Besides the great art and exhibits (which range in mediums and topics), the museum is wonderful and unique in that it does an especially good job of featuring art from around the community, artists of color, and women. It's a beautiful and contemporary museum yet maintains historic architectural details. This museum is very popular amongst locals and young people (19 and under are free).

This little museum is actually one of the best and largest of NYC!It has a little bit of every NYC museum in one place. If you have limited museum time in your budget go here. It has a broad sample of every museum you will find and often a special exhibit to go with your adventure. Not to be missed.

I wish Trip Adviser would stop saying I'm from Brooklyn, Yes I grew up in Brooklyn but have lived in Manhattan for over 40 years. I do go back to Brooklyn occasionally because it does have so many wonderful places and restaurants to offer,I particularly love the Brooklyn Museum because they exhibit in a way that no other New York museum does.Instead of separating art into different periods and eras, this museum with display old and contemporary side by side, I find this very refreshing and allows one to see the comparison of style blatantly. There is usually a a featured artist or exhibit happening. While you are in the neighborhood, two streets down Eastern Parkway is the Brooklyn Public Library. Although I haven't been inside in years just looking at it's door is enough to make an impression, Might as well take the time to walk inside,Around the corner from the library is Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens which is really a great springtime experience. All I can say is if you are going to the museum, allow a whole day to explore the neighborhood. And close by are many great Jamaican restaurants of you care to taste authentic food , inexpensive and excellent..

As a life-long NYer, my first trip to the BM rocked. Nestled next to the Botanical Garden, the Library and Prospect Park. Went for the Killer Heels exhibit. Loved the Feminist Wing, particularly The Dinner Party exhibit. Easy parking onsite and walking distance from subway too. Cafe food was even yummy!

The museu in general is very interesting according to its exhibitions. But when I was there I liked that it is located next to the park, so the visitor can combine art knowledge gained at the museum and nice walking in the park after seeing the exhibition.

I absolutely loved the color heels exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. They had lots of different shoes from different eras and countries along with mixed media and film.

While art enthusiasts often consider Manhattan to be the epicenter of the arts in North America, the Brooklyn Museum is a worthy contender. The home of Judy Chicago's iconic The Dinner Party installation and several priceless portraits from the early days of the Republic (including Gilbert Stuart's George Washington that graces the $1 bill), the Brooklyn is worth a trip, and a second or third visit. Admission is free on the first Saturday night of every month, and in warmer weather there's a party in the parking lot. Go!

I only go to the Brooklyn Museum during Target's First Saturdays, where there's great music, films, food, and exhibits. And, with the exception of most food items, all for free! I especially enjoy touring their African art sections. I highly recommend visiting this place (I'm only a ten minute' walk away, so it's not out of my way at all), whether for First Saturdays or at any other time.

The museum is in a gorgeous building and the exhibits are very nicely varied. Saul - the restaurant inside the museum is fabulous
