A week or two ago I had the pleasure of going to the Mountain Arts Center for first time for a SOAR (Save Our Appalachian Region) conference. While at the centre I was enamored by both the beautiful art galleries as well as the history which the center itself held in regards to Appalachia. The venue is ideal for concerts and any sort of performing arts while being an exceptional conference host as well. I challenge anyone who is presented with the opportunity to visit this Appalachian treasure to do so—you wont regret it.

The mountain arts center is great. I went there to participate in the Shaping our Appalachian Region conference. I was able to go into the recording studio it was amazing. I was blown away by the auditorium for the plays. There is an outstanding platform for the actors.

As a part of a summer program, my team and I attended a SOAR (Save Our Appalachian Region) Conference that was held at the Mountain Art Center in Prestonsburg. After the conference, we had a tour of the Mountain Arts Center. The Center impressed me by its wonderful art galleries that reflect the natural and historical beauty of the region. Also, the theater holds 1,054 seats and hosts different concerts and plays. My group and I had the wonderful opportunity to see the recording studio and actually assist at the process of recording a song of a local singer. It was an excellent experience. If you are in the region, I would suggest to visit the Mountain Arts Center.

My group attended a SOAR conference here, and afterwards we were treated to a tour of the center (I don't think they normally give tours, but the staff are very friendly and accommodating). They have work by local artists on display, and a section on coal mining, including relics and photographs. The theater is large, and the stonework is beautiful. The Center has a recording studio as well, and we were privileged to receive an explanation and demonstration of part of the recording process. MAC is an excellent, spacious performance venue; I hope I may return someday to see one of their many music shows.

Talent competition with lots of good locals. This place is loaded with talent. Plenty of country singers have made it big from this area.

I have visited the MAC a few times. It is a modern building and is a great place to see a concert. It is a crying shame that they don't book more performers than what they do. They have had some big name attractions in the past, but not anymore. For the past few years the only performing that goes on at there is the KY Opry ( If you've seen them once than that all you need because it is the same ol same ol). Besides the KY Opry there is a lot of church/religious gatherings that goes on there. But not much else. As I said it is a crying shame that that place isn't utilized for better stuff than what it is used for.

We did not go to the music show because stopped during day. We enjoyed the display of guitars and mining stuff.

It was a nice side stop on the journey. Beautiful, unique pieces for sale by local artists . A little snack area. A great way to walk off traveler's stiffness. Clean restrooms and close to a gas station. One exit to accomplish traveler 's needs.

Went and saw Legend of Sleepy Hollow there and it was absolutely awesome. The facilities were nice and well kept. The people working there were very friendly and helpful.

From Front Porch Pickin', to the Kentucky Opry, to live shows, and famous acts, this 1100 seat music hall has some of the best acoustics anywhere! Very friendly staff.

I visited the MAC on a tour bus for Abbott Trailways 85th Birthday Bash. Everyone we encountered on the trip had such wonderful hospitality and professionalism. The whole weekend was exceptional! I absolutely loved the Road to Fame Show we saw on Saturday, August 18, 2012. All the performances were entertaining and very heartfelt. Everyone was right... It must be in the water!! Given the chance I would definatly visit again!! Thanks to everyone who made our stay extra special!!

Freddie Lee Goble's character, Munroe, is hilarious! If you're from the southern Appalachian Mountains, he'll hit home better than Jeff Foxworthy!
