wade lake

Wade Lake sits in the bottom of a mountain valley. It is a beautiful lake. While hiking on the south end of the lake, I heard the sound of water and followed a small stream into the trees. There was a flume and the prettiest, mossy area below it. It was a nice surprise. (The flume was of corregated pipe and carried water from a stream on the other side of the road above it.) Loved our visit there with the autumn colors.

We rented canoes and paddled the whole lake in a couple of hours. On our way back to the dock we saw a family of otters playing.

This was one of the funnest camping destinations I have been to. The trails offer great hiking, the lakes are full of fish, and my kids had a great time swimming in the crystal clear water.
