This is the place to visit if you like to research the history of the modern music. W. C. Handy was the man. This place has so much to offer and the stuff is great, very proud for what they do.Even if you are not the fan of music, this place has the history to be seen. I love this place.

Passing through the area, stopped on a whim and was so glad we did. Lots memorabilia. Our guide was delightful and informative. A must see for blues music lovers.

The old homestead portion of this museum is humbling. You can also view many of the awards presented to Mr. Handy, as well as a few letters from presidents back in the day. We spent $2 for entry and was able to browse at our own pace.

I've always been a fan of the blues, so for me to get to visit the birthplace, museum and library of the father of the Blues was truly remarkable. The young lady on duty at the museum was knowledgable and very helpful in providing insight on Mr. W.C Handy and his accomplishments. This should be on your list of things to do when in Florence.

This out of the way little house is packed with what he was and where he took us with his music. Well worth the time and the cost is nothing.

Did not know this was here in Florence until stopping at visitors center and glad we went by to see.

Very interesting museum. Later we read about "Jim" (our guide) who was very active in the civil rights movement. The museum even had the Handy's original trumpet on display.

This is one of the best I've been to. The story of W.C. Handy comes to life through the exhibits and the staff that guides you through. A MUST SEE if you're in the area. You can discover the wonderful accomplishments of this great man, and be a part of music history. The artifacts are caringly curated and they have a treasure trove of materials for blues travelers and everyone else. The story of Father of the Blues comes to life in this perfect location. Thanks for a fabulous experience.

Loved this piece of music history!! The renovations to the small cabin are fantastic and the treasures within its walls truly speak of the person who was W.C. Handy! The guides are very knowledgeable and like to answer questions. It's not a large place nor a long tour...but for the small entrance fee of $2.00...it's an absolute must if you're in the area Tuesday - Saturday and are looking for something to do.... or if you love music as I do and want to know more about its very beginnings!

Our time in Florence didn't coincide with the days that tours are offered, (Tuesday - Saturday), but since we were so close, we wanted to at least drive by and glad we did. Loved the Yard Art!!! Hope to get back the next time we are in Florence,

Unfortunately arrived too late to visit inside the building but just walking around the outside of the building evoked the feeling of the man who gave us the Blues - music that touched the soul of millions.

The actual cabin home where W.C. Handy was born is amazing. It has been moved from its original site and none of the original furniture remains, although it has been furnished with pieces typical of that era. Small and interesting museum, well worth a visit.

The W.C. Handy birth place museum was a delight. It isn’t a large structure or a long tour. However, they had many interesting artifacts from Handy’s career and it gives one a glimpse at Handy’s early life. The man who gave us our tour was an older gentleman and yes, at times, repeated himself. He was, however, a delightful and interesting person and imparted a lot of information to us during our tour. At two dollars a person, this tour was worth it just for the chance to see Handy’s childhood home and memorabilia from his career. If you have children or teens who are interested in music and can play piano, all the better.
