We enjoyed watching the different craftsmen at work; especially liked the quilts and pottery and the ride on the mule-driven merry-go-round.

Wonderful food and many attractions to view a dated way of living from early settlers in the Ozarks. A culturally enriched experience for all ages.

like living in 1800s, authentic clothes, lye soap making, glass blowing, basket weaving, dulcimer, and square dancing.

We go to the folk center once a year for some clogging work shops that my wife and daughter attend. There are different shops where you can watch the craftsman create things such as candles and different things. There is a old timey one room school that is interesting. It also has a large auditorium and legit country/bluegrass singers frequent it.Across the street (down the hill) is Loco Ropes. I'm not sure if it's affiliated with the Folk Center but it is on it's grounds. Loco Ropes is an obstacle course of cables suspended from trees. It also has a few zip lines and a climbing wall. I really like that place.

I spent 4 relaxing days at the Ozark Folk Center. This area is attempting to preserve the old crafts and the old music. The area schools offer music lessons when children are in the 5th grade and provide free teachers and instruments. The dulcimer, guitar, banjo and other string instruments are taught. At night, you can see blue grass and country musicians at the local auditorium in the park. From an amazing young group (ages 9-12), called Twang to older local musicians, they were all amazing. Well known artists such as Marty Stuart and Ricky Skaggs have appeared recently. The village consists of individual craft houses where you can learn to make jewelry, leather goods, brooms, stained glass items, etc. There is a very good restaurant called the Skillet. Good country cooking and the most friendly staff you would ever want to have serve you.The rooms are very nice, with modern conveniences and WiFi. Everyone is the park is working hard to preserve the old ways. I am glad they are.

Thank you for taking time to review your visit to Ozark Folk Center State Park. We are glad you enjoyed visiting our park, crafters and musicians. There’s still plenty of time to visit the Ozark Folk Center State Park this year. The last regular evening concert of the season was October 25, but the park is open until November 29. All twenty-two of our craft studios are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday and the crafts people are creating pottery, brooms, jewelry, dolls, quilts, soaps, carvings, ironwork and much more. For the music lovers, there is live folk mountain music six times a day in the Craft Village. We have a Fall Bluegrass Festival November 6-8 and a Thanksgiving evening gospel concert on November 27. The Skillet Restaurant is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. through November 29 and they have a great Thanksgiving Day Buffet that is well worth the drive to Mountain View. To make your holiday even sweeter, the Craft Village is open free on Thanksgiving Day. It’s also open free on November 7 and 8, but regular admission is only $12 for adults or $7 for children. We also have a $29.50 family pass.If you’re traveling a distance, the Cabins at Dry Creek offer comfortable lodging with views of the surrounding forest. The fall colors are gorgeous and the weather is cool and beautiful. November is a great time to visit the Ozark Folk Center State Park.

This is one of the best visits I have ever had. The Craft Village has blacksmiths, a smokehouse, soapmaker, apothecary, herb nursery, broom makers, copper crafters, potters, knife makers and so much more. I learned so much and had great fun doing so. Excellent for all ages and many interests, I just cannot recommend this highly enough. The staff was fantastic but for minor exceptions. Everyone in the craft village was wonderful, and at Dry Creek Cabins (see separate review here on Tripadvisor) but the counter people selling tickets were short, unhelpful and rude - all three days we were there. I don't know if they didn't like the way we dressed or what, but I felt that they were intentionally uncooperative and misguiding, causing us to spend extra money for things we had already paid for.So my advice, save your receipts and spend your time with all the amazing and wonderful people at this jewel of the ozarks! Again, highly recommended as one of my top favorite places to visit OF ALL TIME, and even dinners in the on-site "Skillet" restaurant were excellent (another Tripadvisor review).Tina Wilcox performed and presented seminars when we visited and if you have the chance, try to see her or her music group "Herban Legend" as she is a bundle of wisdom and energy that you should not miss.

We debated whether or not to enter since you really do wonder what there is to see. We went to spend an hour and were there for 3.5 hrs. Well worth it.

Stayed at the RV Park at the folk center for two days, the park is nothing fancy but everyone was really friendly and they get together and play music and you can stand around and listen and they don't mind. The show we attended in the evening was absolutely charming and the music was great. We spent several hours in the afternoon walking through the folk center and seeing how the artisans worked their crafts. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer I think four days would have been good but two was not long enough. It is a long walk to town but doable and definitely eat at the soda fountain, best roast beef!

I called the center this morning to get tickets to see Ricky Skaggs on Oct. 11. The lady who answered the phone, I'm sure, has no idea, but she was so personable and helpful and I really appreciated it. It is very rare anymore to encounter someone like that at any kind of business. Just wanted to pass that along. :)

This place was amazing!! EVERY shop in it was wonderful.....clean, and the people working in the shops were VERY friendly and helpful. We listened to music for quite a while and loved it....the group was great and very friendly. The bass fiddler was beyond good.....all of the band members were wonderful and willing to talk and take time to make you feel really welcome. I cannot say enough good things about the entire place!! From the gentlemen that drove the shuttle to the lady that called the shuttle back to pick us up.....EVERYONE was just great! The gentleman in the music shop went above and beyond to help me. The lady in the pottery store and the lady and gentleman in the broom store explained everything so well. Even the homemade fried pie we shared was just like my Mother's!! We hope to go back soon!

My husband and I both love to make things so visiting the little craft shops was very enjoyable. The crafters are experts and more than willing to explain their art. We spent a full day and hated to leave when closing time arrived. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch that was healthy and reasonably priced.

The Ozark Folk Center is a "must" while in Mountain View. My husband and I visited on a Tues in Sept. We enjoyed our visit immensely. We visited most of the artisans in their shops. They are dressed in period dress, which adds to the experience. As this time of year is slower, most of them had time to speak with us one-on-one. We learned so very from them as to how life wasVery friendly and talented people work here. The prices of the wares they have made and are selling are more than reasonable. We also enjoyed the music, so much so that we are attending an evening performance.

We were very pleased with the accommodations. We had reserved a cabin for 2 nights, but you can't pre pick your cabin. When we got to the cabin we had been given we asked for an upgrade and more privacy and they were able to accommodate us. That was a huge plus for us. Very comfortable and oh so peaceful, and quiet. It was great. The Folk Center Attraction(village) was pretty cool and a lot of the artists were friendly. The folks at the barbecue place in the park were downright unfriendly to us so we did not eat there. A lot of the little shops had signs up that they would be back at one pm, but they weren't. We hung out a bit longer hoping they would come back, but went on our way when they did not.
