We went to see the play Dusk Rings A Bell at the MRT, and it is another winner. We have had season tickets for 3 years now, and we find the performances consistently excellent. Sometimes the play is not to our liking, but that happens with such a wide variety and we have never seen any production that was not first rate in acting and overall theatrical experience. We also learned this time that the MRT is a "blue star" stage where veterans and active military have special discounts. This veteran's day that was 50% off for this show. If you are anywhere near Lowell and interested in live theater, you can't go wrong with the MRT!

This was our first vist to MRT. It is a very small theater which is very nice, but being that the theater was so small, I felt we shouldn't have spent so much on our tickets. We sat in the orchestra, but really any location probably would have been fine. I did like the intimacy of the experience, with the actors in close proximity. The play itself was interesting but didn't seem to have the theme I had expected. It was about the Cambodian Immigrant experience in the US. Most members of my party felt the play could have represented any immigrant experience. It is clear that this theater is doing a good job staying above water and seems to have an audience of regulars. I got several nice emails prior to our visit reminding us of logistics and the director or theater manager made every effort to make the audience feel welcome and to encourage new visitors to join. I don't know that I will go back again, unless there is another play of particular interest to me.

I'm a big fan of the MRT, in fact, I may be a little prejudice, as I'm a volunteer usher there. The house is small -- just under 300 seats -- which lends an intimacy to the productions. The actors are all professionals, many from NYC, Boston and other large cities. I'm particularly excited about the plays this year, as some of them are new, and are either being debuted or debuted on the East Coast at the MRT. With a change in management, the theatre is taking into account the local population, with is ethnic and younger than the average season ticket holder. They offer schools and local colleges tickets, and even the whole house from time to time when the play is appropriate. Easy parking, great local restaurants make MRT a great destination for a reasonably priced evening out.

A popular, intimate community theater. They always seem to have a diverse set of shows each season. Near lots of restaurants downtown for a nice night out.

The Merrimack Repertory Theater is a nice small theater nestled into the larger Lowell Memorial Auditorium. The theater has a perfect seating design, where there are no bad seats. The theater atracts good plays from off Broadway, it is reasonably priced and on street parking is available right out front. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars near by.

This is the place to be, if you are truly a Shakespeare persons, because all of the plays are done by people like you and me. They seem to be just starting out, BUT what a wonderful job they do. You ARE SO CLOSE TO THEM, YOU COULD ALMOST TOUCHED THEM, BUT ONE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS PLACE, IT IS NOT LOUD AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shows this season have been varied in dramatic style, with truly excellent acting, remarkable sets, and diverse plots. The Merrimack Repertory Theatre has undergone a significant remodeling which reduced the number of seats and added two levels of adjustable seating on the sides of the balcony. Regardless of where you sit, you're close to the stage of this historic theatre. Sight lines are excellent and dialogue is clear. "God of Carnage" was hilarious. " Stella and Lou" was a touching love story; and "The Devil Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith" was a delight. Boston quality productions, cozy bar, refurbished seats with good restaurants and parking within easy walking. Did I mention Boston quality productions at half the price of Boston shows? Like professional theatre? Merrimack Repertory Theatre won't disappoint.

Top notch talent and excellent schedule every year in a very cozy and comfortable theatre. I've never been disappointed with a production here.

Saw 'Mrs. Mannerly'. The actors have broadway and film credits. They were outstanding. the set design is something we always observe as my wife spent many hours working on the school sets. Very professional, well-designed, and complimentary sets. We are lucky to see such great productions so easily in our own neighborhood. We go to Boston & NYC as well for the big shows. Now that the parking lot across the street is open it is the easiest quality theater experience there is. As season ticket holders we look forward to seeing everything. The last few seasons have been excellent.

Saw David Mamet's "Glen Garry Glen Ross" on our first visit to Merrimack Rep. A wonderful production in a great theater space. It rivals theater productions seen in Boston and NYC at a fraction of the price, and so easy to access from western and northern suburbs. We will definitely attend in the future.

David Mamet's Glengarry Glen Ross is an insightful play on the over ambitious tendencies business people. MRT's handling was well crafted with a different take on Shelley (played by Jack Lemon in the movie), making him less pathetic and more real. Shelley became a man who had been beaten up and had given in a bit, to his demise. The Roma charter (played by Al Pachino in the movie) was played similar to the movie role, but the actor did not exude the confidence and braggadocio that Pacino brought. All told, it was great seeing the play again. This is our 6th (?) show at MRT and they do good work.

I grew up in Lowell and have been to the theater many times. Seats are a little tight but shows have been excellent and all seats have a great view.

The MRT offers great entertainment and ultural variety for those discouraged by Boston prices and traffic. The small and intimate setting gives you a rare opportunity to feel like you are part of the show and really get into the performance.

Been a member for 30+ years - always great sets and acting. Some plays have been poor choices. Newly remodeled with new seats - very comfortable.

A wonderful venue in the land north of Boston. Unexpected culture with easy parking. Is there such a thing? Yep, in Lowell. Between the Memorial Hall and the Rep theatre, you've got it all. While here be sure to visit the Thai restaurant across the street.
