I discovered thus gem of a place many years ago while living on the Cape..It is a combo of beautiful woods, leafy paths and trails with always the Atlantic shoreline within your view..Upon the end of the 1.5 mile trail is a gorgeous, often deserted sand and rock beach where seals sun themselves nearby..I recently came here one lovely Nov. afternoon and its still as magical as I remember it..

This is a great spot to enjoy a hike through the woods to the beach. Plymouth is one of those places where one moment you can feel like you're in the Maine Woods, then the next moment you're on a Cape Cod beach. This is not a good swimming beach as it is quite rocky. However, if you go down the main path and turn right, walk about a quarter mile, you will see where the ocean floods into the marsh. There is a bit of a current but it can be fun swimming there on a hot day.

Parking is a bit of a walk to the beach. The views are nice. The beach is rocky. There were seals in the water. The observation platform is hard to find because it looks like you have to go into private property. Go up to the Private-Keep Out Sign, but then take a right down the path to the platform.

Ellisville Harbor is located in Southeast Plymouth along Cape Cod Bay. Signs are posted along MA route 3A, providing ample warning that you are approaching the area, but be prepared to pull off onto an unattended dirt parking area. I wouldn't plan a large gathering here since there is a 1/2 mile wandering path from the parking area to the beach which makes for a great stroll, but a long way to drag gear. The path overlooks a salt marsh until you arrive at the beach and there is a field for possible kite flying activities. Warning - beach does not have lifeguard, though firehouse is only 5 minutes away, do not expect first responders to arrive at beach within 15 minutes due to accessibility.

Spent 2 hours here on a cool fall day. Pleasant walk through the woods to a rocky beach. Parts of the trails are steep and challenging, but great exercising. You view a salt marsh along the way. Once at the beach, it is rocky and seaweed strewn, but beautiful. We walked down to the salt water river that feeds the marsh, and back. Best part is....it's free! and well maintained.

The parking is free and the trails are also free to use; they are well maintained and easy to walk or jog on. The trails meander through the trees and lead to a small, pretty beach. The views from the walking trails allow you to see the marshlands/estuary and catch a glimpse of the many birds in the area. This is a great stop for the kids and adults to get out of the car and stretch their legs on the way to Cape Cod. Note: there are no restroom facilities. Stop and read the sign in the parking lot for a description of the trails and the history of the area. It is all very well worth it.

Worth the winding drive down Rte. 3A -- a secluded oceanfront park for those who avoid the traditional beach scene. It's a bit of a hike down to the shore, though, so bring more than flip-flops.

Ellisville Harbor is a great example of an unspoiled beach and tidal marsh. The beach is about a half mile walk from a dirt parking area' there are scenic views of the marsh area along the way and even a picnic table about halfway. A great place to walk dogs (allowed on beach if on leash). We usually walk the length of the beach to the south to the tidal river that flows out of the marsh.At that point you can walk back on a marsh trail or back up the beach.Ellisville also offers good bird watching, and has a seal population from Oct.- May.

Very pretty stroll through some woods and marsh to Plymouth Shore. You can see wildlife and all kinds of tree specimens while relaxing on the beach or in the woods. A great place to walk dogs as well.

This is lovely place for a short hike. You park in a dirt parking lot and travel through the woods. To the right is a marsh area. Read the informational placards and you will learn about the history of the site. If you keep walking soon you'll come to the beach. Because you walk to this beach often you are the only person there. It is a beautiful vista of water...sometimes seals. Very pleasant couple if hours.

...a great place to wander the woods, shoreline and - yes - even the beach. Fairly good parking, picnic tables with a view, nice trails and million dollar views. You can spend an hour or a day roaming around - check out the sunrise...AND the sunset. You won't be disappointed. Bonus - the kids can run around the beach and wear off some of their extra energy and mom and dad and sit on the rocks and relax.....

Here is another hidden gem in Plymouth. We love to go here for a casual walk or turn it into a vigorous and adventurous hike if you want. Free parking! You can hike the trail through the forest and carry a light pack to the beach to spend the day or drop your kayaks off on the side of the road at high tide - go park your car and walk back down to the estuary for one of the most scenic kayaks around. A private well kept reserve finally that keeps out the traffic and enjoyed by nature enthusiasts!
