This is a volunteer local theater and some are the performances are as good and entertaining as you can see. It's a theater in the round, small and you feel that you are on stage with the players. Well worth a visit if there is a show when you are visiting Annapolis or the surrounding area.

Although this is billed as an amateur theater, over the years, they have gotten better and better. The material they produce, plus the acting do not feel like they are amateurs - they are a joy to watch. The price is extremely reasonable as well. Season tickets are the way to go.

The production we saw, 'Dead Man's Cell Phone' by Sarah Ruhl, was light and engaging, professionally produced with a likeable cast. Cost was quite reasonable for a live show.

We found ourselves without much plans and wandered into the Colonial Players theater ("These Shining Lives") and decided to see what it is about. Solid acting and a good ensemble production made for an interesting evening of theater. The intimate setting (rectangular space with 360 degree bleacher seating) enhanced the experience - there are no bad seats. Recommend if you are looking for something to do on a visit.

This small theatre in the round puts on excellent performances and all seats are good - you are almost in the performance. Prices are affordable and good value.

Loved the play we saw. The cast was well-prepared, although the occasional line was flubbed - but not enough to detract from the performance. This "theatre in the round" was a fun place, and the tickets were a good value. I highly recommend this group!

We have been long-time subscribers to CP and really enjoy it. Some shows are fabulous some are mediocre... MOST shows are very good. You really have to respect and admire a dedicated group of volunteers who put together some great entertainment. I am always impressed by what they do with staging in this small venue. The best shows are usually the comedies; those seem to be their forte. We also love seeing a Christmas Carol, now only every other year. (wish they'd bring it back annually) For the price of these tickets... you get great value.

Some shows are great, others are mediocre, but they all cost $20 except for seniors sand students. They've been there more than 60 years so they're doing something right, but there are a lot of good theater choices in Annapolis ... Compass Rose, Dignity Players, Annapolis Shakespeare (which performs in Bowie) ...

My parents have had season tickets here, with a group of about 20 friends, for the past 20 years. Now, I come here with my friends. I almost always enjoy the plays, though the last one I saw (the Vibrator Play) was not my favorite. However, there are way more hits than misses, which is quite an accomplishment for a small community theatre that is not afraid to go outside the box. The acting quality is generally outstanding. Most of these shows are cheaper than a movie ticket - and all the seats are great due to the theatre-in-the-round set up! Also, the Christmas Carol performance (not part of the regular season) is a must-see.

This weekend, my sister had an extra ticket to go to the Colonial Players theater to see "1776". It's a VERY small theater in the round, meaning that the play happens in the middle of the theater with seats all around them. I don't know how they do it but it was incredibly fun. I really am looking forward to going to the next production!!! This is definitely a "hidden gem" in Annapolis
