When you are standing in the upper parking lot looking over the vast quantity of huge vehicle size boulders, and seeing from where up the mountain side they came, you are beginning to see the devastation that was created then. You can still see how far up the opposite side of the valley that the lake and material went and destroyed trees

The Hope Slide has a tragic but fastinating Story to tell. On a nice weather day you can walk around the many trails that wind through the Massive boulders and ruins and take in the scenery offered in this mystical place. The History boards tell a 'Haunting ' tale of not one, but two Tragic events that occured here way back when.If you have a little time to spare on your travels, make a point of stopping off and checking out the Hope Slide, ....I've a hunch you will be glad you did~

Here's your chance to see Mother Nature up close. This is the largest landside in Canada. It has healed over the years, but still impressive. It has a good sign that explains what happened. Quite incredible that more weren't killed. Great portapotty! Good spot if your little one needs to go. Remembered it's closed when the snows start.

I'm glad that I stopped here on a bright clear day. The view of the mountain side that gave way and slid onto the valley floor was impressive. In fact if you are at the view point, or driving on the highway, you are actually standing on the slide debris itself. As it travelled right across the valley floor. Even burying a very productive fly fishing lake. I would highly recommend stopping here. Once in a life time unique opportunity to view mother natures awesome destructive power.

Largest landslide ever in Canada. I wanted a rock to take home and tumble (I'm a rockhound) from the bottom of the valley. Took longer than I thought it would. Don't wear sandals if you climb the rocks!

This is 10/15 mins drive from Hope. If you appreciate geology/physical geography then it is impressive to see the shear scale of the rock slide. It's easy to get to and park. You can be in and out in 10 minutes. Add a star on my rating. If you are like me.I loved it. I can see how some might be less impressed at staring at a mountain with a big scar on it. Take a star off and don't bother if this kind of thing doesn't float your boat. There's nothing else here except a sign and a portaloo.

One of the most interesting rest stops in BC, as far as rest stops go. Complete with KYBO's and information on the destructive Ho.pe Slide. Ample parking available

B.C. is full of places where you recognise the power of nature; this is certainly one of them. The Hope Slide is well signposted from the highway; a drive of 100 meters takes you to a large car park with a spectacular view of the slide. Four people were killed by the slide, and it is both spooky and moving that two bodies were never recovered, so lie some fifty meters below the car park, where the original road bed lay. This is a ten or fifteen minute stop; a chance to get out of the car and stretch one's legs, but at the same time appreciate both nature and history.

Just a 15 minute drive outside of Hope, and nip off Hwy #3. In a way nothing spectacular.... until you consider what happened. Back in 1965 the side of a mountain came crashing down and buried the highway, sliding up the other side of the valley. Prepare to be humbled. Not a long stop, but a good one.

The Hope Slide is awesome!. It is hard to imagine that part of a mountain came down, destroyed a lake and highway and went halfway up a mountain on the other side. Everyone should read more on the Hope Slide.

This is a nice break from the hwy traffic. Read the history sign and see the pictures posted. Take a camera shot of the huge mountain that gave away and covered travelers vehicles. You are now on a new made hwy above the rock face that fell.

If you're in neighbourhood it is a great place to stop for 10-15 minutes and see something extraordinary - a bit like moon landscape.

See the excellent chain saw carving at every street corner in Hope, BC, not far from the Hope slide location. It is free. There is a park by the Fraser River, and another one with a small Japanese garden in the center of Hope where the tourist bus stops there.

Stopped off while riding up the Hope/Princeton.Great View/ Good Description of the Event. As interesting if not more than the Mt St. Helens slide area

We were travelling along the road to Hope & turned off to take photos. It was the place where they had an enormous landside, (it looked as if the side of the mountain just came off) which killed 4 people & obliterated the main road. (we were on the new road that replaced it!)
