We visited Lapostolle on a South American wine tour with Mendoza Holidays. You'll not only have a first class wine experience, you'll enjoy tasting truly spectacular wines of the region from one of the oldest wineries. This was an excellent visit with plenty of wine to sample. Our guide gave us a great tour explaining all the story, different techniques, and difference with the grapes. I more than highly recommend this winery on your next visit to Chile.

It is certainly worth making your way to Lapostolle for a tour of the winery. The physical space and architecture are incredible and there are some breath-taking spaces to tour through. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, speaking English fluently. For those who can afford it, you can stay overnight in a small cabana overlooking the vineyard. I would rate our experience here as a 4 and not a 5 due to the large size of our tour group. There were 18 of us with only one guide which we found to be a downside. There wasn't actually as much information being presented to begin with around the wine making process as we found at other locations but due to the very big group we missed a fair bit too. As we entered different spaces the tour guide tended to spend more time speaking with small groups of people so unless you followed him around from little group to little group, you would miss out. Regardless, we would recommend touring this winery but also ensure that your make your way to others for comparison.

Out of all the vineyards I visited, Lapostolle was the most impressive. There is not a ride to to see the vineyard but you see it when you drive in and there is a nice view of the whole property from the top of facility. The tour is very informative. Our tour guide had very good English and he spoke with much pride in the vineyard. He explained the whole process and how the company puts so much thought into it all. Even the building was intentionally designed to accommodate the complete process of the wine which you can see in the architecture of the facility. Very impressive tour and vineyard all around; if you visit just one vineyard in Colchagua Valley you should visit this Lapostolle.

My favorite thing about this wine tour was the aesthetic beauty of the place. The views are amazing and with the interesting design of the vineyard and gardens it was a perfect backdrop for pictures! It is a new winery and they have put a lot of thought and effort into how they make their wine. Each level is beautiful and creative. They even artistically store their wines! The tasting room is also a really cool (and temperature cool too! bring a jacket) environment to try wine. The only downside I found was that we didn't have a lot of time to sample the wine. Overall, a very interesting winery to visit!

You must take a tour to taste wine (we had a reservation). Beautiful winery built into a hillside. Interesting tour. I would have preferred an option to taste more of their wines than we were given.

TOUR AND GROUNDSLapostolle's Clos Apalta Winery is a must if you are visiting Colchagua Valley. The fact that their wine is among the most highly rated in Chile is only part of the reason. If you are coming from the US, you are unlikely to purchase any wine here since it's cheaper to buy it in the US. But you have to come see this winery... from beginning to end, the design and the process.. it's like a love story to wine. The grounds are just stunning. In every room and part of the tour, they say something that makes you go "wow". I also learned a lot of new and very interesting things about winemaking and distribution. The tasting includes a white (Chardonnay/Semillion, from which I learned the Semillion takes away from the harshness of the Chard, softening it), the lower end red (a Merlot) to their high end Clos Apalta that sells for less than $100 in the US, mid $100s at the winery and $200 and up elsewhere in Chile. Tours are offered in English and Spanish and although a bit steep at 20.000 CLP (~ $33), it's the same price that they charge for a tour at Viu Manent. After coming this far to visit wine country, I can't imagine trying to skimp on the price of a tour. Just do it.LUNCHWe stayed for the wine pairing lunch, which is served at the Residence at tables overlooking the vineyard. We had the "Menú Lapostolle Clos de Apalta" (60.000 CLP or $100 USD per person); for 40.000 CLP we could have had it paired with the Cuvée Alexandre wine instead. The menu includes Aperitif, Starter, Main Course and Dessert with coffee and chocolates and is the same regardless of your pairing. The only difference between the two menus is the wine served with the main. They are very accommodating of dietary restrictions, and I was served chicken instead of angus loin for the main because I don't eat red meat. Aperitif: Casa Sauvignon Blanc Grand Selection 2013Organic Apple & Blueberry Gazpacho CupBlue Cheese Grilled Scallop SpoonChive & Cheese EmpanaditaStarter:Lapostolle Cuvee Alexandre Chardonnay 2013Preserved lemon seasoned shrimp over pumpkin & cinnamon cream, vanilla oil, flowers from the gardenMain:Lapostolle Clos Apalta 2010 *** (better than the one they give you on the tour)Masala Chicken with pan seared organic tomaotesDessert:Grand Marnier (by the way, this vineyard is owned by the Marnier Lapostolle family, which owns both, as well as Kappa Pisco.. a French family with a long history in the business)Cherimoya cream stuffed Meringue with homemade dulce de leche & Armagnac ice creamI don't need to go into each item and what was good and not because everything was outstanding. Really. The pairing was perfect, each item was perfection, I just loved the whole thing. Ranks up there with the best meals ever. Expensive? Sure. But considering the wine pairing and the amount of food we got, it was totally reasonable. Much better than meals I've paid more for in the US.Our lunch was relaxed and we spent well over two hours enjoying our food, wine, and the view. It was really a lovely afternoon and the highlight of our visit to Colchagua.

This was the best wine tour I've ever been on (of 15 or so), hands down. This tour focuses solely on their premium lines and the entire manual and gravity-based process that goes into creating them. Very educational, as well as impressive regarding how much forethought was put into this building. Wines were good but not our favorites. Reservation for tour or lunch is required. You can make tour reservation online via email; we made our tour resv two hours in advance but granted it was on a weekday before the season really started picking up.

Even if you were not a wine lover you should tour this particular winery as it is architecturally unlike any other winery. If you are a wine lover then you have the double treat of being visually pleased by the structure of the winery and then you get to do tastings . Be sure to bring a sweater as the tasting will happen in the sub-basement that is very cold. You will do the tasting in the subbasement at a large glass table. Your guide will switch off the lights in the room and suddenly reveal to you that under the glass table is a stairwell that leads to the private wine cellar of the owner. Sadly there will be not tour of tasting of the owners private stock. Nonetheless you will receive 3 tastings well worth the price of admission (approximately $34 USD) : an entry-level Casa sauvignon blanc. A mid range Cuvee syrah and of course their famous carmeniere blend Clos Apalta. If time and finance allow, make reservation to do lunch at the connected restaurant that offers a world class culinary experience in a beautiful setting.

I did lots of research to find a winery that should meet our expectations.About 2 hours by car from Santiago this place is really unforgettable. The wine tasting is great, but don't forget to pack some sweaters, as the temperature is around 10celsius. They didn't give these kind of orientation, so in summer, when you're not prepared, you'll freeze down there. But the lunch was amazing, with fantastic food and wine, but the best of all: the landscape.Go there with your friends, family, but for the romantics, that's the place. They also have 4 chalets hidden in the woods, and it's a 5 star Relais&Chateaux little hotel. Super!!!

The guide was professional and a great ambassador for his winery. He told us lots interesting details about the wine, the company and the building. The wine celery is absolutely beautiful.

We adored Lapostolle and spend the day there enjoying all they had to offer. The tour was unique, taking us down several floors to show each step of their gravity-flow process. The tasting took place in a beautiful cellar room. We scheduled lunch following our tour and the tasting menu was divine. It was haute cuisine in a stunning outdoor setting overlooking the entire valley. We took a brisk hike after lunch to enjoy even better views. The path is just behind the visitor's car park.

The visit is fantastic. The wines are incredible. the architecture and the view are already worth. Really incredible with an awesome tour guide visit.

The winery was build with high attention to detail and great architecture. Must see is the owners private winery underground. Unfortunately the tours are run by unqulified staff which we found very unatentive and almost rude

This is a unique winery, very modern, great architecture. Tour was very good and the wine... well, it is one of the best in Chile. Don´t miss it. A bit difficult to find though. Location in google maps and similar apps could be improved.
