Lovely park for a walk around the loch which could take approx 1.5 hours depending your your abilityon good paths/tracks, also wheelchair friendly. It is also easy to cross the bridge over the River Clyde and visit the Mausoleum or continue further up into Hamilton, it's also not too far to walk up into Motherwell. The park has a sports centre and cafe etc, M&Ds amusement park and a couple of restuarants and hotels plus a caravan site.

Good for a nice walk! pathway all the way round park, mostly around water area and one part through tree area.To walk all the way round the park briskly would take about 55-60 minutes. You ll see other walkers, runners, dog walkers and people on bikes. People friendly with a smile or good morning unless they're really focussed on their exercise!!

its a good 6km walk around this park and even at a brisk walk it can take an hour...we found it clean and tidy. plenty of wild life if you care to stop and look... good play areas, snack vans and a cafe. Its a ten minute drive for us, so a reliable walking route... all in all a good park

Loved the convenience of getting to and from the Park. Great walking trail. Lots of wild life and very peaceful. Close to the ruins and Roman baths. Great for a leisurely stroll, power walk or run!

We were staying at the adjoining caravan site, which was superb. And therefore decided to explore the country park. We set off on a pathway that led us eventually to a car park and a map, which gave us no indication of where we were, which direction we were to head etc Tec. So we followed a few signs, including one that indicated South Calder Water, which was alongside a small play park. This took us past two stone ruins, which possibly could have been a Roman bathhouse or just a space for druggies. No signs to indicate. We followed a shale path, and then came across a memorial, of a recent death. There were ties, flowers and flags draped around a tree, next to an ice house. It all just looked sinister, shabby and run down. We then carried on, on a path that might have been a path or not, but nonetheless ended up beside some unsavoury fisherman who had a fire burning, and were not best pleased to see us. We bid a hasty retreat and retraced our steps. Eventually we found a path that was signed to Strathclyde loch, which we took. The whole place had a run down, unkempt feel. It wasn't welcoming, it was poorly signed, and other than a couple of play parks, there was little to look at, to do or places to as sit. Overall it was disappointing and made worse, by its potential.

Totally worst experince ever for a family day out, go in for story telling for a lady to sing meeeeeeooooww ,whats that got 2 do with christmas , then no1 to tell us where 2 goto next, then on 2 reindeer visit , 2 reindeers sleeping , very interesting ....Not, then on 2 see the big man 2 find out there is like 5 different santa's,over all total shambles , nothing magical about it

Nice park, always clean and well maintained. Great for walking the dog, cycling and running. They also offer a variety of watersports but I haven't tried them so can't comment. I think the park could be improved with the addition of a decent cafe/coffee shop inside or next to the main building.

I love this place as you have a lovely view of the water and the changing skies as you walk round the Loch. The paths are well laid out and you can walk for miles ,cycle or run around if you are fit. We had a lovely Autumn day ( warm and sunny !!) This was a trip down memory lane for me so was looking for landmarks that I remembered such as the roman bridge and roman fort/bath house. The woodland walks were lovely as it was autumn colours and watersport centre looked bigger than I remembered. There were geese in the water and on the beach area and swans which I enjoyed photographing.Definately worth a visit whatever your age.

It's a nice park with a loch in the center and walks all around. There are a few kid's play areas as well. M&D's park is also located there and there are some lovely maintained lawns just outside for kids to run around. Nice, peaceful place.

We were on holiday to Scotland, Hamilton and, as it was a rainy August day all day, decided to check out the Strathclyde Country Park. Its a beautiful site with the loch and parklands - it would be a great place to explore if it wasnt raining cats and dogs !!They have M&D funfair park and inside amusements which is a great place to while away the hours when the weather is bad.I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PARK as a fab day out and I hope to come again soon when the weather is dry so I can check out the loch and surrounding parkland
