I went with my family. Collection of aircrafts is pretty good. A lot of information on helicopter, jets, combats and what not everything that you need to know.. The receptionist was pretty humble and welcoming. I have seen kids making jet planes with recycled soda cans and they were amazing. Pretty good startup for kids to improve their knowledge and njoy the surroundings.

Come and see some of the aircraft that were part of our military history. I will see you there. And who can help but love the mighty F-14?

Went with family and grandson to the local air museum and pleasant experience of it. Enjoyed indoor information and memorabilia center and touring the variety of helicopters and jets from past air combat and support missions. Able to be up close and view inside cockpit of each. Grandson able to sit inside many and enjoyed the in depth personal tour guides who were with the displays. Very happy to have museum of this type so close.

My daughter and I enjoyed ourselves at the museum when they had their open cockpit day. When they have it again, I recommend going because the kids get to sit inside the planes. Some of the planes are worse for wear inside, but they are former working planes that went through quite a lot. I didn't get the chance to look through the exhibits inside as the kid was antsy (to be expected). From what I saw, they were interesting pieces. You can tell the volunteers love what they do and are very engaged. It was nice that a couple of them worked on the models displayed.

I take this as a field trip with my K kids when studying transportation. It is a hidden gem in Bloomington and the volunteers do an AWESOME program with the children. The kids love seeing the planes up close and enjoy the museum there too. They have programs available throughout the year.

My grandson's 5th birthday party was here. The volunteer staff did a wonderful job with the tour for the children - they got to sit inside the planes on display, etc. They also provided a video viewing, tables and seating for birthday cake and present openings.

I picked up a flyer for the Prairie Aviation Museum so I decided to give it a look. There is a small building and a collection of several military aircraft outside. I skipped the building and looked at the aircraft from outside the fence. Most, if not all, have stairs to permit inspection of the cockpit. Representatives of the Air Force, Navy and Marines are found among this nice collection of Cold War Era aircraft including a Phantom 4N, A7 Corsair, A4M Skyhawk, T13A Talon, F14D Tomcat, F100 Super Sabre, and two helicopters. If it had been a warmer day I might have gone into the museum and taken the time to look inside the planes. In my opinion the Prairie Aviation Museum is worth a stop if you are in the area.

This is a very awesome place right here in Central Illinois! With History of past Aviation men and women of Illinois.

The museum was smaller than the pictures make it look, but it was enjoyable to walk up to all the planes and look into the cockpits. The information inside the museum was more late-20th century based.

The old planes are the coolest! They actually used those in the wars. The displays inside are very informative. Prices are a good value.

My husband loves aviation and while visiting Bloomington, saw this place in passing. We went the following day. My husband loved it. The two gentlemen in there were very knowledgable and helpful...you could tell they love talking about aviation! We were on a time crunch so we went through it pretty quickly, so my husband would have plently of time outside. He was loving being able to look at the jets and planes. It was pouring rain outside and he was still loving it. The worker there also had a lot of fun information on each plane/jet. Definitely recommend stopping in!

The P.A.M. is located on the east side of Bloomington, near the city's airport, off Route 9 of Veterans Parkway. In photos , glass cases, WW11, Korea, the Tuskegge Airmen & the history of aviation is told. One wall has all the Illiois astronaut's photos, with a bigraphy of each. A small Robert Auth gallery of paintings of the mid-20's into the 30's. Outside are nine a/c, from the mid-50's into the 90's. A partial list includes; T-38 Talon F-4 Phantom A-4 Skyhawk F-100 Super SabreA visit will take 30-45 minutes at most. However if a visitor takes their time to read & view, more time can be spent. Possibly if a museum volunteer sits down and takes the time to explain about a certain exhibit, such as the Link Trainer, more time will without realizing it. No large crowds & a small gift shop. A small collection on aviationare for sale.Hours: Closed Monday. Tuesday-Saturday 11:00-4:00. Sunday-12:00-4:00.Admission: Adults-$5.00. Chilren 6-12-$2.00. Children 5 &n under-Free.If a visitor has any interest in aviation, they shouldn't miss this museum. Size should not matter, think content and history.I would recommend a visit.Jack L., Syracuse, New York.

Prairie Aviation Museum has a great 'small' feel to it, with super volunteers who will share all they can on aviation with you during your visit. Very well kept outside airpark allows you to TOUCH the aircraft and experience the joy of flight through them. This museum even has an F-14 Tomcat!

When I was a kid i was really into planes and i want my kids to be as well.... I was in town for state farm and my kids had come with me... I brought them to the museum thinking it would be amazing, but I had higher expectations.... they only had 3 or 4 actual planes.
