Interesting little local winery. Pick your own strawberries without bending over, but most of plants picked clean. Lots of chickens running around and fun to feed them. Bottles of wine are overpriced. Gift shop had a variety of items, something for everyone. We were in the area and had lots of time so we decided to check it out but were there under 30 minutes. I would not recommend coming a long way to see it, only if you are in the area and curious.

4 different wine tastings for 1$. I love sweet wine and they had plenty of options. Very friendly help and answered all of our questions. Different food options - I bought the Tortilla chips and blackberry jam. Can't wait to try them!

Came here mainly for the winery that we had seen in book on Florida wineries. Small store with many options to buy nick nacks and food, wine, and oils. Strawberries available to be picked which seemed like a great thing for children to do. Chickens in the yard that greet you upon arrival and you can get free feed in the store. Wine sampling cost is very reasonable..4 wines for $1. We'd love to come back when the grapes are in bloom. Worth our Wauchula drive from area..if visiting friends again, will stop back here.

Stopped for a country music jam on a Friday afternoon. Neat place. Chickens are everywhere, very friendly, they gave you food for them. Vines were dormant, the hydroponic strawberries had been picked clean (they were waiting for the second grow), fresh eggs, and a nice gift shop with some very interesting items, not the usual junky stuff. We liked it!

We went with a group of adults in mid January. You have to like being around hens and chickens, because they come right up to you looking for food. They GIVE you a little cup of feed pellets - how nice not to have to buy food to feed their animals! When we were there, it was strawberry picking time. The plants are hydroponic, so you don't have to bend down. They give you a little pair of scissors to cut the strawberries and you pay by the pound for what you pick. THEY ARE DELICIOUS!!!There is a small wine tasting area with 4 tastes of their local wine for $1, and a little gift shop with some interesting things. We had a nice time and ate the strawberries later and the next day. Check what you can pick before you go, so you actually like what you are picking. In our case, we knew it was strawberries and we all like them, so that was great. You can also buy eggs from them, individually, but for that, you have to go fairly early, because they are laid that day and when they are gone, that's it.If you are in the area, I recommend this different kind of place.

Quaint little farm & winery. Products for sale very interesting. We bought some Blueberry wine that we had tasted & some orange flavored grape seed oil which is better for you than Olive oil. Got a kick out of all the chickens.

A quaint farm with a winery. Very good wines. Have a taste the price is right. A diamond in the rough. Loved the chickens

Stopped here on our way beck home from the West Coast of Florida. Farm-like atmosphere, very friendly owner. Tasted a few wines, bought a couple of bottles to take home. Also a bottle of their Orange Grape seed oil that I used to cook some scallop sliders in last night..yum!Chickens wander the property and you can pick your own grapes at certain times of the year!

Not exactly Napa Valley but really wasn't expecting that lol.Still, the vineyard was pretty extensive and well looked after. We pulled up right to the shop and was welcomed by the many chickens and roosters. Very friendly and didn't bother us, until we got some chicken feed later...Basically a typical store of crafted items, souvenirs and homemade jams and foods. There was quite a bit to choose from as far as flavors, and that goes for the wines too! We didn't taste any wines, but it was $1 per taste. We did buy some jams and pickles and a few other goodies, they were all tasty when we tried them later! In the back was just a small walk in winery maker, nothing special and no one was working in it. There was little cups you can get some chicken feed, basically cheerios, and an option to buy koi food for $1...not sure where the koi fish were though...?After feeding the chickens, having a little walk around, and purchased some gifts, we left about 45 minutes later. Nice out of the way place, and we did find another place that also sold jams, wines and other great little gifts and the prices were a lot less than Henscratch, Maxwell's Grove in Avon Park and well worth the trip out there. Just call ahead of time to get the hours since its seasonal.

Live music is often times offered for entertainment but without it you will still enjoy your visit to the Henscratch. We brought along offerings for the loose chickens ( box of cheerios) and very much enjoyed the self-tour and the wine tasting. This is not fancy, just simple country atmosphere and good wine. They also sell in salsas in addition to the wines. Sampling of wines as I recall are $1 per sampling. The free range chickens, the unique specie of foul and the resident hog make for fun times as you enjoy the peace and quiet of Lake Placid area. I have referred others here to enjoy a laid back mellow trip in casual attire.

We visited during what the called a straberry festival. The had live music and there was a bbq vendor selling food. They also have an icecream shack and another place that was selling hotdogs. I was a little disappointed that they didnt have a regular wine tasting like I've had at other wineries, but they did have samples available. I also would have thought the strawberry u pick would have been open, since it was a strawberry festival, but it wasn't. The guys in the wine room were super friendly as was the lady working the wine bar. The only not so friendly one was the cashier in the main gift shop. Acted like she was doing us a favor. Overall we had a nice afternoon; even though everything closed down at 2pm. kinda early we thought.

I was in the area and decided to make the trip out to visit Henscratch Farms Vineyard & Winery. When I pulled onto the property and there were people sitting around in lawn chairs and a band was playing. The atmosphere was amazing as were the people that were participating. I met some fun people that were down in the area on vacation and they quickly invited me to join in with them for some fun. After doing a tasting I made my way back to them and we all enjoyed some wine, music and a great setting. There were some animals loose on the property, just as a warning to people who are not a fan of animals. The staff was great and you could tell they were having a great time. The tasting was a little skimpy but the great tasting wine made up for it. Make sure to visit their website for any events going on. I was told that they do events often and I had a very good time. Great people, great wine, great country setting and music…what more can you say in a review. Country Blush was very good – Blueberry, Strawberry and Raspberry are all very good, you can definitely taste the quality of the fruit.

This was a fun place. I believe it is a 22 acre farm. They have fields of grape vines and make their own wine and have wine tastings in the gift shop. They have fields of hydroponic strawberry plants. They will be ready around Christmas time thru March. I've heard that they are delicious and better than most store bought berries. The gift shop is cute with all kinds of gourmet foods like jams, jellies, pickled products, different kinds of infused oils, wines and other gifts. There are chickens and roosters running around loose, but they didn't bother me, thank goodness, because I am scared of anything with feathers. Saw some ducks too and Harley, a big wild boar, whom they have had since he was a baby. And at certain times of the year, they have bands playing and other festivities. This was our first visit, but we will certainly go again at different times of the year to experience all tht they have. Can't wait to try the strawberries. I've bought their Christmas Jam (strawberries and cranberries) and it is delicious.
